If you can have access to the same community and have the same level of info and do the same level of work, you can have even better results. Info la fi n fo.

I went to unilag yesterday for the first time, and I can't lie I'm very jealous, no school is touching that level of exposure in Nigeria. 😭 A large chunk of them have active LinkedIn pages. They are always doing something that prepares them for the real world. OOU never offered me such 💔💔

Interesting that this is trending. But I’ve been seeing some posts that make it seem like the university itself simply hands these opportunities to students. Yes, UNILAG gives you the people, the network, the environment, and access to opportunities that can help you thrive. But trust me, anybody you see doing really well is also putting in a mad level of work behind the scenes. Some of my roommates in Mariere, especially when we were in 100 level, didn’t even really rate me or understand what I was always doing. It was just me coding, applying for things, attending events, joining competitions and doing plenty things they probably thought were somehow unnecessary. It was only when they started seeing me get internships and win hackathons that they began to understand what I had been working towards. So yes, the opportunities at UNILAG are enormous. But let’s not overlook the hard work that comes with taking advantage of them. And let’s also not paint it like you can’t achieve even better results at another university. The school can give you the environment, but you still have to put in the work. Just make sure you have fellow grinders around you who will pass you updates when opportunities drop.

After winning multiple hackathons, I have been privileged to mentor more than 4 teams to win their very first hackathon. At the same time people continue to reach out to me whenever they have to pitch at a hackathon and I have to say the same thing all over again. So two things are in my head right now, either we hold a one time session to unravel all we have learnt from losing and winning multiple hackathons and competitions or we write and publish something on it. I would try figure the best thing to do and would love to hear your thoughts if you would be interested

@TechnicalBben I need to do a workshop on real world fullstack web development for that uni. It’s on my bucket list

Last semester, we built a tool that helped over 120+ students doing a particular course get A in the course, and that was my first real experience to getting actual paying users on our app. We made over 300k plus within just two weeks and we had over 1000 people visit the site. I actually feel it’s not so hard to get paying users if your product is genuinely helping people solve a problem. I’m currently building something for a hackathon now and i feel the urge to scale it beyond the hackathon. I have the expertise, the network and everything to push it and make it scale. I want to hear others experiences scaling hackathon ideas. How has it been for you?
