ok, so some context. Few months back a Patreon member requested I cover fanmade lyrics to Phighting's instr. OST. I posted it and it apparently got some attention. Come April Fools and the devs add it to the game. The guy in the video happens to be the one who wrote the lyrics!

honestly not rlly phighting dev fault for coil buffs there's a egotistic parasocial coil main server discord group that had blocked them for changes they dont like for a SUPPORT characters and won't give any proper feedback

@vamoopy Like. I'm not a huge fan of putting phighter roles and abilities into boxes, but if a character that was made to support their team is more known for just dogwalking lobbies as a dive with self sustain and a dozen blitz moves, then the character might not be that well designed...

@vamoopy We just got a patch that made tethers lowkey busted and only traded off a bit of fighting power, and yet the rep of coil didn't shift at all while coil players still complain about losing breaker damage to this day. The support on the support phighter is being ignored...yikes.

Seeing how people react to someone pointing out how the most overtuned and unfun to fight and play character is, infact, overtuned and unfun is making me realize that phighting is doomed

@vamoopy Coil is getting reworked one day whether coils like it or not, all discussion abt coil points to this fate, but the playerbase really doesn't want this to happen because of all the playtime investment that went into learning the current kit despite its issues for game health.

everytime aidn tries to make a change to this character that dares. Excuse my language. Make him slighter more m*nagable for the other 95% of the playerbase he gets skinned. Imagine how people would react to a rework. Its Doomed

@The_KATastrophy He directly benefits from open environments being less coordinated with a wide variance in player skill, which is a legitimate balance issue that deserves to be addressed idk why that is so hard to accept He's also just. Not fun to fight even if your team is fine....

Literally every time I am in a lobby with a Coil they are pretty much unkillable. I have played the game for an embarrassing amount of time I can confirm that Coils shouldnt be able to do all that. Its not just teams sucking

I dont mean to generalize but Coil mains need to stop being rude when being told that Coil shouldnt be able to do as much as he does. He is overtuned

@33elkMTG I'm not planning on buying the game because of those cameos but I legit can't care less if someone else does. There is much more dangerous shit in the world to worry about. Atp what concerns me more is that most online discussion about it has just gotten insufferable...

is it bad i find the mewgenics voice cameos thing not that big a deal and find it really funny people are fuming about it? Like idk i think putting weird/evil people in your game isn't an endorsement of them, he probably just thinks its funny and I agree LOL

@CoilPhight1ng This issue is so heavily amplified by matchmaking it's not even funny. All hell breaks loose if there's one or two folks in a game that can't actually fight a coil...or even worse, don't even bother trying. If matchmaking for higher lvls actually worked, this debate would cease

@xtriel1 Nerfs won't do it. The balance is mostly fine, he needs an entire rework because the kit is fundamentally only fun for one side. But the investment dedicated coil players have in learning him makes for the largest sunk cost fallacy this game has had since skate's trickspam era.

TBH coil is overtuned and absolutely needs nerfs but the ppl maining him are keeping him in an extremely unhealthy state

@heyits_bigfoot Unironically feels better for me to fight a dynamo now bc both sides get to have a more consistent understanding of the threat range I could never figure this out before due to small killbox and patchy paint, but now there's zero question abt it, and it's thrilling to fight

Dynamo Roller has gone from its user repeatedly saying, "that didn't kill?" to the opponent saying, "that killed?" 😂
