@YesboxStudios Yeah but what if you choose to create a muddy textured poorly lit character like the image on the left? All I'm saying is that this puts more onus on artists to "prove it". If your art direction is so amazing, people will leave the filter off.

It does make improvements in some cases. My concern is this feature is going to coerce a <>. From an artistic perspective, we make deliberate choices on lighting (and what not to light. What if an enemy in shadow is now a light bulb from DLSS?), aesthetics, mood, etc. All the details modelers put into a face help tell the character's story. DLSS wipes that out completely. The aesthetic variance (which partially help games stand out) is being wiped out to raise the average/floor. But IMO, it's these aesthetic distinctions that differentiate games on the market in the first place. So my current opinion stands that this will negatively affect the industry since it makes games look more similar to each other.

NVIDIA: Hundreds of man-years of effort put into a games art direction washed away. Why put effort into creating a distinct style? Like TVs, I would not surprised if some day all the "enhancement" settings ship default-on.

Watch springs/gears: need special alloys, not plain iron; 1kg worth low thousands at best (not $6M). Lithography laser parts: not made from iron at all.
