I apologize to any white Sox fans reading this, as I am 99% of the time very pro star player stays with their original smaller payroll team. But I genuinely need Murakami playing in San Diego for years to come competing against ohtani and Yamamoto while that rivalry is still hot. Give me that then a Padres-Dodgers playoff series…might be some of the best most peak baseball content we could possibly ask for

I’d be more concerned about him going somewhere else regardless of what the Sox offer but don’t think that will happen

@Vintagewinnings @barstoolWSD I’m not saying it’s a guarantee, but I don’t think it’s something to be overly concerned about. Getz is on record saying they will spend on a 100M+ contract if it’s gonna be anyone it’s gonna be the guy already on the team that makes them a shit ton of money already

Jerry doesn’t pay pitchers to 5+ year deals and honestly don’t blame him. The 1b making him a ton of money isn’t the same scenario. Jerry pays 1b and past signings will tell that

@Ryan192482 Maybe not to the same degree but he’s still a guy that you hope has a high batting avg and obp and know he’s gonna have no power. One of the worst swing speeds in baseball. Teel could struggle to start and it wouldn’t be the same feeling

@SheetsGig32 Yeah but Thorpe has some good stuff and is a young piece. Quero yes but he’s still 23 and has a lot of upside. You wouldn’t say that about Quero at the end of last year. Also all these guys are young. Who knows maybe when Teel comes back he’s terrible. You just never know

@Ryan192482 We will see what happens when he comes back but he seemingly needs an overhaul of his arsenal. Can’t throw a straight 90 mph fastball and expect to be good. He needs to become a sinker/cutter guy but that might make his changeup less effective with tunneling so not sure

@Ryan192482 Wasn’t great last year and underlying metrics looked worse and then of course a terrible start to this year. He can throw guys out but has not been a great framer or blocker either. Thorpe was only good in the minors so no one knows how he will perform in mlb post TJ
