At times he could even be found popping down to watch indoor winter nets, such was his enthusiasm for the game! He'll be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Our thoughts are with his family.

Having dedicated many years to umpiring around our leagues, in more recent years Pete could be found visiting a variety of grounds, any day of the week in the season and was always welcome at our own ground at Abbeydale and became a very keen supporter of the club.

We are deeply saddened to learn that Pete Ratcliffe passed away earlier this week. He'll be sorely missed by everyone at Sheffield Collegiate and the whole of the cricketing community in South Yorkshire.

We are very fortunate as a club to not only have produced two England Captains but also one of the world’s best modern umpires in Richard Kettleborough. He was kind enough to sit down with us to talk about his career in umpiring and why others should consider becoming umpires.

Good news from our junior section as our Under 9s indoor team came out joint winners of their Indoor Softball League, winning 5 out of 6 of their games to finish joint top with Stockbridge. Great work guys 🏏
