@Shell66190 I love how you ignore the physical description of her but know she was born from an egg. Just say you’re a dishonest moronic fuck.
English

@Shell66190 You Brits are the biggest cucks on the planet. 🤣. Fuck off Nigel. You already proved you’re a disingenuous retard.
English

@Shell66190 I couldn’t give a flying fuck that you called me racist. 🤣🤣. I find it funny you whiny turds still think that works.
English

@Shell66190 There is no such thing as African culture. Dung huts and cannibalism isn’t culture you moronic cuck.

@michelle_cub @RonFilipkowski Ironically the story was based on word of mouth approx 500yrs before Homer was born. He too might have also adapted from somewhere else for Greek audiences. Many cultures have similar mythologies and gods.
English

I haven’t seen this many people upset about a fictional character since Black Ariel.
The Odyssey is mythological epic literature. It is not a historical record of real documented people. Adaptations are creative interpretations. That’s literally what filmmakers do.
People are acting like this is a documentary instead of a retelling of an ancient myth that has been reimagined countless times over centuries.
English

@PituteteMik @clr231 @JastForYa And Homer wasn't born when the events took place. It might have occurred elsewhere & like with other gods the story could been set in another country and adapted for Greek audiences. Which would be hilarious 😂

@Loafyohf @TheCriticalDri2 Imagine if this movie becomes one of the best ever made which Nolan has the potential to we can point to these shitty tweets to add to his other work. Thanks for letting me know about his crappy work ☺️
English

@Shell66190 @TheCriticalDri2 He made a shitty movie based on his shitty books that got a 4/10 on imdb 😭

Displaying more of that famous acting range, I see.

New look at Zendaya as Athena in ‘The Odyssey.’ (via ELLE) In theatres on July 17.

@mtradpagan38952 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave It was the norm. Zeus himself had a male lover. Ganymede a beautiful Trojan prince. Captivated by his beauty, Zeus transformed into an eagle & abducted him to Mount Olympus. Ganymede was then granted immortality, eternal youth, and the prestigious role of cupbearer to the gods.
English

@mtradpagan38952 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave They were lovers. It's very much implied ie Mourning Rites: Achilles takes on mourning behaviors traditionally associated with a wife rather than a comrade. There are no graphic sex scenes written in the book regarding anyone.

Lupita Nyong’o on the discourse around her casting as Helen of Troy in ‘The Odyssey’ ⚔️
“this is a mythological story”
“I’m very supportive of Chris’s intention with it and with the version of this story that he is telling. Our cast is representative of the world. I’m not spending my time thinking of a defense. The criticism will exist whether I engage with it or not”
(via @ELLEmagazine)

@dasmtr___ @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave The Odyssey (1992): Renowned Caribbean poet and playwright Derek Walcott staged an acclaimed musical version of Homer's epic with a diverse, multicultural cast, emphasizing the Caribbean and African diaspora connections to the Mediterranean. Race is not an issue in the theatre.
English

@Shell66190 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave So you're saying that when Cintia Erivo portrayed Jesus Christ, there was absolutely no criticism?
And I'm as concerned with Helen as with Achilles, it's not a race thing, I would be concerned too if a black character from a film of a director I really enjoy were portrayed as yt
English

@mtradpagan38952 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave Plato described them as an approved couple, while a fragment from the lost play by Aeschylus detailed their romantic relationship & frequent kisses. You are talking about an era when it was the norm 4 men 2 have male lovers, Homer didn't have 2 be explicit as it was assumed.
English

@Shell66190 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave The original material does not describe any sort of romance or sexual relationship between the two
That was added later
English

@dasmtr___ @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave How do you know she couldn't be black Punt & Kush had huge trading routes with Mycenaea. Herodotus referred to ppl of color as fair. She was hatched out of an egg. It's all fantasy so Helen can look like anyone. Greek plays like Oedipus been retolled by many cultures dumb dumb.
English

@Shell66190 @Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave Nobody gives a fuck about Orson Wells, that's why 🤦🏻♂️
And no, there's absolutely no chance that the character of Helen of Troy was conceived as black, neither a fucking swan
I thought you knew about what you were talking about.
Greek Gods DNA doesn't change when they shape shift
English

@GregsTheBull @Variety Guess you didn't know Helens dad Zeus was a swan when he fucked her mother Ledo, she was hatched out of an egg so this is the AI version of that event. Who is the dumb dumb now. You also just admitted Helen is not real so she could also look like anyone. It's all fantasy 🤡🤡🤡

Lupita Nyong’o addresses the racist backlash to her casting as Helen of Troy in “The Odyssey,” after some critics called Christopher Nolan a “coward” for not casting a white actress:
“This is a mythological story,” Nyong’o said in an interview. "I’m very supportive of Chris’ intention with it and with the version of this story that he is telling. Our cast is representative of the world. I’m not spending my time thinking of a defense. The criticism will exist whether I engage with it or not.”
Nyong’o said her interpretation of the character goes deeper than her beauty. “You can’t perform beauty,” she said. “I want to know who a character is. What is beyond beauty? What is beyond looks? That’s the thing about doing such a well-known text, which has been studied and interpreted and derived from. The research could be endless. The good thing about working with a writer like Chris is that it’s on the page. The investigation starts with the pages you’re given. That’s what I based it on.”

@Ellyinthemiddle @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave Ancient Greece explored gender fluidity extensively through mythology, literature, and religious festivals.Stories & religious practices frequently transcended the male/female binary, framing fluid gender identity as divine, transformative, & natural. Read a book!!

@Shell66190 @MadWokeNews @CultureCrave What does that have to do with him not being played by a trans?
