@shadylady222 I need some tips. What Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury make up do you use? I need something to help hide my 40 something dark circles.

🌟Creative writing: sentence models🌟
Resources in the 🧵
I've been doing lots of sentence work. Last term, I tried to write with students every lesson, just trying to build writing muscles and expose them to lots of models
Inspired by @ChrisYoules His book is fab!

@Team_English1 - Do any English teachers have some old copies of 'Purple Hibiscus' by Chimananda Ngozi Adichie? We are hoping to study this novel for a HA y9, but the cost of new books is holding us back. We can pay for postage and something towards a class set. THANK YOU!

Read this to fully understand- in her owns words what #ruthperry went through. These notes were found by her sister Julia Waters after her sister’s death. Warning this is powerful & distressing because it is so directly from Ruth Perry’s own thoughts bbc.co.uk/news/education…

I am continuing to use @brmorris10 excellent 'Upgrade Your Analytical Sentence', and I am embedding regularly for deliberate practice now. It has really made a massive difference to developing academic writing. I've included some new examples here I'm trying.

What are some good alternative modern classics to 'Of Mice and Men' or 'Lord of The Flies'? I'm sick of the whole trigger-warning speech that precedes the teaching of these texts and would like a great alternative (ideally with a SOW attached!) Thank you @Team_English1 !

@igooner287 @Team_English1 We already read Animal Farm at another stage

@RogersHistory Absolutely! Teachers are meant to educate students to think and question, not indoctrinate them not to

I can’t get on board with the sort of cult-like buy-in requirement some academy chains have, like the branded messaging, quotes, songs, social media ‘control’ of everyone - ‘only have opinions on everything that align with our opinions on everything’.
I’d find it too cringe, I’d rebel and get fired. I respect anyone who can do it, I just know I couldn’t do it 😂

@Team_English1 - in year 9, we either read 'Of Mice and Men' or 'Lord Of The Flies,' which both contain the N- word and either feature no women or just one! What alternative modern Classics would you recommend? Do you have any good SOWs? I'd love to suggest some alternatives

"What’s happening in India is not that loose variety of internet fascism. It’s the real thing." Arundhati Roy at her best. Must read.

Over the last few months we've done a lot of research on ChatGPT & its educational applications.
We're now at the start of the first school year where LLMs like ChatGPT are available.
Here are the 6 things we think every school should know about them.
