I am continuing to use @brmorris10 excellent 'Upgrade Your Analytical Sentence', and I am embedding regularly for deliberate practice now. It has really made a massive difference to developing academic writing. I've included some new examples here I'm trying.

Pair-share is one of the most powerful classroom techniques but it’s easy to get wrong. The focus should be on generative activity not superficial talk. Hollingsworth and Ybarra are excellent on how to get it right. Effective teaching is often about the accumulation of small details ⬇️

What are some good alternative modern classics to 'Of Mice and Men' or 'Lord of The Flies'? I'm sick of the whole trigger-warning speech that precedes the teaching of these texts and would like a great alternative (ideally with a SOW attached!) Thank you @Team_English1 !

I can’t get on board with the sort of cult-like buy-in requirement some academy chains have, like the branded messaging, quotes, songs, social media ‘control’ of everyone - ‘only have opinions on everything that align with our opinions on everything’. I’d find it too cringe, I’d rebel and get fired. I respect anyone who can do it, I just know I couldn’t do it 😂
