Humbled... There is simply nothing more that I can say. Last week, I announced my campaign to continue serving the people of North Carolina. Hundreds of amazing citizens came from all over to help us kick things off. Despite some of the worst weather in my lifetime, we packed the largest venue in Franklin County. I am fighting for each and every single person who calls North Carolina home, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or political party. I am fighting to make our communities safer for everyone. Seek Peace. During a time of such turmoil, unrest, and uncertainty, today served as a reminder that people of entirely different beliefs can come together to promote the same idea. It was truly a pleasure to host Bhikkhu Pannakara and his group this morning; their mission to awaken the peace that lives within each of us is commendable. Blair and I will pray for their continued safety as they march onward toward Washington, D.C.

Poison our people, pay the price. Nicolas Maduro was not a president; he was a gangster. He was the head of one of the largest criminal enterprises on Earth and solely responsible for piles of drugs entering our nation. This morning, his reign of terror is over. He has been captured by US law enforcement and will face the full force of the US justice system. Praise God! Please blanket the Venezuelan people in prayer. They are free. May they rebuild in peace and harmony.

What a very Merry Christmas it is. 🎄🎁🙏 Demonic Animal Jermaine Branch is officially departing Franklin County for Central State Prison. He is being charged with the attempted first-degree murder of Deputy Taylor Lucas, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, fleeing to elude arrest, and assault on a government official. Most importantly, and by the grace of God, he is being held WITHOUT BOND. With any luck at all, Jermaine Branch may never breathe fresh air again. Shop with the Sheriff proved to be once again the most magical day of the year. Showcasing the spirit of giving to young children across our community is one of the greatest privileges I have had as sheriff. The veil between life and death is razor thin. Last night, that veil got even thinner. Jermaine Anthony Branch, a demon the likes of which I have only seen a few times in my life, came within a fraction of a millimeter of ending Deputy Taylor Lucas' life. Deputy Lucas was shot at point-blank range, directly in the heart of his chest. Were it not for his breastplate, he would have died instantly. Haters will almost certainly criticize me for calling his attempted assassin a 'demon.' Let the record reflect, I do not give a shit about the haters. Jermaine Anthony Branch is not 'of man.' He is a violent and possessed being with no regard for life or anything of this Earth. He has been arrested dozens and dozens of times throughout his life. Each charge more violent and hellacious than the last. He has attempted to kill in the past, and only because of God's intervention did he fail to kill again last night. Why was Jermaine walking free in this world? Not because we have failed to catch him, but because weak, feckless, reckless, and dare I say useless politicians have time after time let him walk free. I am pissed. Angry beyond words, and overcome with frustration. When will the political hack jobs in this state begin to care more about Deputy Lucas and his family than they do about a demonic animal and his well-being? I am done talking about this. I am tired of talking. What happens next is bold, aggressive, unapologetic, and unprecedented action. I don't care what anyone says or thinks; I am done talking.

Earlier this evening, Deputy Taylor Lucas, was pursuing a crime suspect when the suspect opened fire. During efforts to detain the suspect, Deputy Lucas was shot. Deputy Lucas is currently being treated at a local hospital. The suspect has been apprehended. The community is considered safe at this time.
