This infuriates me so much wena Mkhaya because there are no funds that the South African government receives from the USA government. Not now, not before, not ever. Americans are led to believe that the South African government is dependent on “foreign aid” from the USA for its survival. Many South Africans think so too because of the influence of western media, and no one ever corrects that. Yes, there are so-called low-income countries whose budgets are supplemented by “foreign aid” from western “donor countries”. South Africa is not one of the. The aid that came to South Africa via such agencies as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) went to NGOs. Yes it helped because NGOs offered healthcare services that supplemented government services. Government must find funds to provide those services. But no American money went directly to the South African government. I’m surprised a propagandist like @joelpollak doesn’t know that.
