By all logic, the Kanto region should be a futuristic utopia. They have Machoke and Machamp for essentially free construction and heavy labor. Pikachu and other Electric-types can generate clean, renewable energy on demand. Water-types could provide near-infinite clean water. Chansey offer top-tier medical support and nutrition, while Zubats have even been used for medical imaging. On top of that, there are multiple sustainable food sources through Pokémon and natural systems. Why do most people live in small, modest towns instead of sprawling advanced cities? Why do Pokémon Gyms produce some of the highest earners in society while basic things like bicycles are treated as expensive luxury items? Why does the entire economy and culture still revolve so heavily around catching and battling Pokémon instead of using them to build widespread prosperity? It makes you wonder what’s actually holding everything back.
