@CoinMarketCap An agent with trading permission is a signing key that acts on what it reads. The attack surface isn't the model, it's whatever the model ingests before it executes. That's the same off-chain layer where most losses already come from, with a new actor holding the pen.

@CoinMarketCap The headline says down 46.8%. Strip the Bybit outlier and H1 2026 losses are 28% higher than the comparable period last year. Wallet compromises drove $444M across 33 incidents, code vulnerabilities $152M across 204. The expensive layer is operational, not the smart contracts.

LATEST: 🚨 CertiK says AI-driven tools are arming less sophisticated hackers as Web3 losses topped $1.3B in H1 2026 and attackers increasingly targeted older smart contracts.

The 94% is real but off a deliberately conservative base. V4 launched with intentionally low caps (security-first); the DAO lifts them as it observes live behavior. Utilization sits at 30-48%, below V3. The growth is cap increases plus new hubs (Global Dollar, Paxos) coming online.

The 6.9M headline drops the distinction that sets actual risk. Exposure is at the signature layer (secp256k1 ECDLP), not consensus, proof-of-work stays sound. The exposed set splits: ~2.3M irreversibly exposed (lost keys), ~3.7M still migratable today. Different remedies per group.

🚨JUST IN: BITGO ADDS QUANTUM PROTECTION FOR INSTITUTIONAL BITCOIN WALLETS BitGo is set to launch tools that will help institutions "assess, manage, and reduce quantum-related risks" across UTXO-based Bitcoin wallets. The firm says its multi-signature security model is designed to reduce single points of failure. The move comes amid reports that quantum threats may be closer than expected, with up to 6.9 million BTC potentially exposed.

Same methodology-relocates pattern: AI shifts the mechanism, the constraint moves. Detection gets abundant, expert triage becomes scarce. Octane's AI found a real Nethermind bug (~40% of validators), but a human filtered the output. Verification is where the work concentrates now.

THE BLOCK: Ethereum Foundation says AI agents are good at finding vulnerabilities in the network infrastructure, but most turn out to be false positives. The challenge is having humans determine which bugs are real.

@RelayProtocol Clean layer decomposition: network held, keys untouched, funds gone at the asset layer. The token contract's self-removing logic executed as written. Centralizing the sequencer doesn't screen permissionless listing. The asset-selection building block still sits with the user.
