I think that part of the reason why we're even seen as so few is because many of us aren't in a position to be counted. Folks tend to hide when the threat of death looms.

One of the biggest mistakes humans make is thinking we are separate from nature instead of part of it. People destroy ecosystems, disrespect animals, pollute oceans and forests, then speak about rising diseases, extreme weather, food problems, and instability as if these things appeared randomly. Nature does not negotiate, feel sympathy, or care about excuses. Every action has a response. The problem is that by the time humans finally notice it, the damage is already much harder to reverse.
