I knew moving from working on a product with thousands of customers to building for a startup would need a mindset change. Yet, the biggest reminders for me have been surprising because seeing them play out in your favour is hugely powerful. One, pricing plays a big role in how customers perceive the maturity + quality of your product and team. Building from India does not mean we need to be affordable / inexpensive, and price should not be the differentiator anymore. Build for quality and quote for value. Two, our customers are early adopters, and therefore, more forgiving. If we'd waited too long to demo, get feedback, launch, the product would have been on a different trajectory. I'm getting better with dealing with the squirms that accompany demoing something incomplete. Get yourself and your product in front of customers far earlier than what makes you comfortable.
