The Ministry organised a virtual interaction programme with Nepali diplomatic missions based in South Asia, North East Asia, and South East Asia and the Pacific. Delivering the opening remarks, Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai underscored two major priorities of the Government: good governance, including technology-based service delivery, and effective economic diplomacy. Ambassadors, Consuls General and Chargés d'Affaires shared updates on Nepal's engagement with respective countries and agencies, including opportunities for enhanced collaboration and cooperation, and briefed on the status of service delivery. Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, emphasised the Government's core priorities of ensuring good governance through improved service delivery and contributing to the country's economic prosperity through strengthened economic diplomacy. He further instructed the missions to align their efforts accordingly and to further enhance service delivery through innovation and digitalisation. The programme was conducted by Joint Secretary Mr Bhrigu Dhungana, Head of the North-East Asia Division of the Ministry.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal received H.E. Mr Simon Ernst, Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, at the Ministry today. Matters of further strengthening Nepal–Australia relations and advancing mutually beneficial cooperation across key areas such as trade, education and development partnership were discussed during the call on.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, received H.E. Ms Diana Mickevičienė, the non-resident Ambassador of Lithuania to Nepal, at the Ministry today. Discussions focused on further deepening Nepal–Lithuania relations by exploring new avenues of cooperation.

In his closing remarks, Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal received H. E. Mr Abdulla Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nepal, at the Ministry today. During the courtesy call, views were exchanged on further strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between Nepal and the UAE. Matters of enhancing economic partnerships, exploring new avenues of collaboration, and advancing cooperation at bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels were also discussed on the occasion.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal received H. E. Mr Fahd Mohammad A. Mnikhr, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nepal, at the Ministry today. During the courtesy call, discussions were held on further expanding cooperation and collaboration between the two countries. They also shared views on attracting and enhancing Saudi investments in various projects in Nepal.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal received Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nepal, H. E. Mr Mishal Mohammed Al Ansari at the Ministry today. During the courtesy call, views were exchanged on further strengthening bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, including labour migration, partnership in hydropower and agriculture, tourism and investment promotion. Matters of commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Qatar were also discussed on the occasion.

Amrit Jha , who was captured in Iran, has been released. Our honorary consulate general in Iran as well as Qatar Embassy are in touch with him. Our team is working to bring him out of Iran.

H.E. Mr Taeyoung Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal at the Ministry today. During the meeting, matters relating to further strengthening Nepal-Republic of Korea relations and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed.

The @MoFANepal organised a short session today at the Ministry to mark the observance of the first-ever International Wellness Day. On the occasion, the Hon. Foreign Minister @shisir highlighted the importance of embracing wellness practices in our daily lives and encouraged all participants to make wellness a conscious and sustained way of life. The session was guided by Mr. Mani Ratna Sharma. Senior officials of the Ministry were also present.

H.E. Mr MAEDA Toru, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal at the Ministry today. Various matters relating to Nepal-Japan relations and cooperation, including celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year were discussed on the occasion.

Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received H.E. Mr Udo Eugen Volz, Ambassador of Germany to Nepal, at the Ministry today. Ambassador Volz conveyed the greetings of German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr Johann David Wadephul @AussenMinDE to the Hon. Foreign Minister on his appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal. On the occasion, various matters pertaining to Nepal-Germany relations were discussed.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Republic of Seychelles, H. E. Mr Barry Faure, on the sidelines of the 9th Indian Ocean Conference. Both sides shared views on deepening diplomatic relations and exploring areas of cooperation between Nepal and Seychelles.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal addressed the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Port Louis under the theme “Collective Stewardship for Indian Ocean Governance.” He highlighted Nepal’s deep and organic link between the Himalayas and the Indian Ocean, noting that ecological interdependence from melting glaciers to rising seas demands a shared global response. Reaffirming the rights of landlocked countries under UNCLOS, he called for inclusive, rules-based governance rooted in equity, international law and shared responsibility for our global commons. He also urged greater recognition of the mountain–ocean climate nexus, including through Nepal’s Sagarmatha Sambaad platform. “What melts in the mountains eventually rises in the seas,” he said. Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal @shisir held a meeting today with Dr Khalilur Rahman, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, on the margins of the Indian Ocean Conference in Port Louis, Mauritius. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the cordial state of bilateral relations and deliberated on diverse sectors to further consolidate cooperation and enhance mutual ties.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal held a meeting today with H.E. Mr D.N. Dhungyel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan @FMBhutan, on the margins of the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Port Louis, Mauritius. Both sides reaffirmed the close relations between Nepal and Bhutan and agreed to broaden bilateral cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal, currently in Port Louis, Mauritius for the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (10–12 April 2026), held a bilateral meeting with Dr S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India. Dr Jaishankar congratulated him on assuming office. The two leaders reviewed the longstanding, multifaceted Nepal–India relationship.
