This week we will be mainly be in the bunkers on 1st and the bunkers on 9th 🤣🤣

BIGGA are deeply saddened by the sudden and shocking passing of BIGGA member Ian Kinley, Course Manager at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club. Ian and his team proudly hosted the AIG Women’s Open last year, showcasing Royal Porthcawl and the profession at the very highest level. Only this week, Ian joined us at BTME 2026 in Harrogate, where he was a panelist on the R&A Breakfast session, sharing his experience of hosting such a major championship. It was a pleasure to see him, and his insight, humility and passion left a lasting impression on all who attended. Ian will be greatly missed by the entire greenkeeping community. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.

Few things going on @RhylGolfClub little putting and chipping green areas making progress, over halfway with the astrotees 11/18, a red thing for cutting fairways has turned up and have gone open plan (temporarily) in the office 🤩

Pot of gold at the end of a rainbow 🤩. Lots of work being done on the course getting ready for winter proper: renovation to the approach on the 4th by @greenergrounds, drainage on 1st fairway, 8/18 astrotees @CountySport and practice facilities hopefully be ready for April 🤞

What’s this I’ve played 6 half decent rounds this year, just having a bit of a dip at the end. Not quite to my target for the year but something to build on next year 🤩

Bit gutted not playing in @BIGGALtd : National Champs this year… it’s one of the highlights of my year. Realised a few years ago that my golfing prime had past me by but thought “every squirrel finds a nut”. Time to bow out: Saunton was a very fine final comp to play in 🙇

Winter Projects have kicked off. Martyn and his team starting on the paths - 6th green to 7th tee base layer boxed off in 3 days and now working on the 1st. @thorncliffebs and 3 years in the making I finally got to use the new sprayer supplied by @gwstarkeyandsons

Great to get out to play in the Bert Cross Trophy - shame couldn’t get out of reverse gear though 🥴

Fantastic week of getting things done: course info sign delivered/installed, tee signs changed to match the card colours 👌, materials for the autumn renovations arrived 👍, bunkers got a good seeing to, & tees got top dressed. Hoping the bund tees will be open Tues 🤞 😴

Well I’ve not won a comp with my new bats, so I joined the ladies section for the Dovepoint Foursomes and boom - only gone and won it 🏆 @ArrowePark
