Great to visit Leicester Barbering Academy and see the pride, graft and ambition at every chair. We need to match that with real investment and support for apprenticeships. I’ll keep making that case loud and clear in Parliament. Adults, young and old, are ready to work and we must give them that opportunity.

Bigotry. Plain and simple. Why are celebrations of every other major faith in Trafalgar Square embraced, yet a Muslim Iftar - peaceful, family friendly, open to all faiths and none - is suddenly labeled as “domination” and “division”?

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

British taxpayers forked out £40+ BILLION for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. How much will we pay for a war in Iran? Our government must immediately stop turning British military bases into launching pads for Trump & Netanyahu's bloodshed. War always comes with a price tag. While warmongers rake in record profits, ordinary people pay the price: through economic instability at home and completely shattered lives overseas.

On World Glaucoma Week, I'm proud to say that my Glaucoma Care Bill is making headlines across the country. Glaucoma is a silent disease that leads to irreversible sight loss, and is often diagnosed far too late. That's why I'm passionate about removing the postcode lottery by having a uniform national strategy to ensure early diagnosis, faster treatment and consistent monitoring.

Hundreds of worshippers have been blocked, harassed or denied entry to Al-Aqsa. I raised this with the Government months ago and received no response. And now, Al-Aqsa is completely shut to worshippers and not a single person has visited this month. This is a deliberate assault on faith and freedom and must be challenged at the highest level.
