What an awesome opportunity it was to participate in Reading Across America this week! Was a very rewarding experience that I remember partaking in when I was in elementary school. Thank you to @MUHawksFB and @CoachSamDorsett @CoachJeffGallo for this opportunity!!

Just heard of yet another school w analysts that are ruining their specialists. Too much is at stake to put these young guys in pos of authority & yet they have never played the game or pos. I watched it first hand & hear/see it all over talking to these specialists & coaches

For those of you out there looking for a high level kicker, take a hard look at Skyler. He sat behind an All Conf. Kicker and all he did was work at his craft. Has the mindset you’re looking for in a kicker. He has a chance to be a great one for you! Excited to see him next year.

I’m going to keep saying it.Many college special teams coaches destroy their specialist. So many injuries are developed due to incompetent coaches. They destroy so many K/P/LS.They know a few catch phrases & think they are a guru. So sad.Esp coaches that have never played the pos

Yet those same college and high school coaches will read this and do NOTHING about it. They’ll see this, read it and do NOTHING. They’ll just continue to degrade the kicker for being soft and other choice words and keep doing what they’re doing because they “know best”.

Hey All … Been VERY MIA dude to issues with the ol’ eyeball again lol. Had to have surgery on the right eye and have been avoiding my phone to have to stare at it. Making my rounds and getting back on texts and film reviews. Apologies for the wait and inconsistencies. But we’re almost back and good to go!!! If you did text me and I gave you no response recently just text me again. Text away! I’m going to go through everything this weekend. Talk to you all soon!!

From my Coach in Alabama back in High School Mike King: 🧠The Mental Game of Kicking Kickers are on the field for less than 25 seconds per game, yet their entire job comes down to a skill performed in under 2 seconds. Some games give them 5–7 chances, others only one or two. That scarcity makes the mental side of kicking unique—and critical. To perform, kickers must remain calm in a sport built on chaos, contact, and noise. The best approach is emotional neutrality: no big reactions after a make, and no visible frustration after a miss. This isn’t about being robotic—it’s about conserving mental energy and staying ready for the next opportunity. A useful comparison is the military sniper: isolated, patient, and able to control heart rate for a single, decisive action. Kickers face the same demand—total composure in moments that decide outcomes. The great ones separate themselves not by never missing, but by making the next kick after a miss. Emotional swings—too high after a make or too low after a miss—drain focus and consistency. Teammates, coaches, and fans will celebrate or agonize, but the kicker’s job is to reset. In the end, it’s consistency, not occasional brilliance, that defines greatness. As the saying goes: “It is far better to be consistently good than occasionally great.” —Mike King #FentressKicking
