Here's an historically interesting old Arabic proverb (recorded in the 10th c. CE): "Better than a Heraclian dīnār" aḥsan min ad-dīnār al-hiraqlī This is evidently a reference to the gold solidus of the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius (r. 610–641)

@si_rubinstein don’t think so - people have been doing computational stuff for some years now on trying to date proto-indo-european or the dates/cladistics of its branches, but generally none of it has convinced any traditional scholars (except the ones that reproduce the consensus…)
