The Iranian parliament is in the process of adopting what may constitute the most effective/codified boycott, divestment, and sanctions regime in contemporary history against the US and the Zionist entity. This new legal framework can be read as both an attempt to neutralize sanctions, and to reassert sovereign agency within an international (western) legal order historically structured by imperial domination. Its significance lies as much in its enforcement mechanisms as in its challenge to the entrenched imperial hierarchies that have long governed global law and the political economy.
