Imagine, instead of building homes, they are pushing for profit driven corporations to own all rental homes. The complete privatisation of the market is what what they have been instructed to implement by their supranational superiors. This will come as no surprise to those of us who have been saying for many years now that they are going to try and reintroduce a feudal system. In recent times, they have driven small landlords out of the market. They have made an industry of homelessness, commodifying individuals and families by making their suffering a business opportunity for greedy speculators (emergency accommodation is the same business model as IPAS). I believe in the future we will be forced to return to tenement style living. The living spaces will be tiny and the cost extortionate, and it will have communal living features, such as shared kitchen spaces. It will also be full of surveillance, and we will have no autonomy.
