Introducing: The Gift of Chess 🌟 @thegiftofchess began in New York City in December 2020, with a mission to distribute 10,000 chess sets to public school students across the city. Today, it has grown into a global movement with an ambitious mission to deliver 1,000,000 chess sets by 2030! Focused on education, prison outreach, and refugee support, the initiative has already distributed 132,000 chess sets across 35+ countries and gifted 100 sets to every recognized chess federation worldwide. ♟️✨ This week, as part of FIDE's Social Chess Year, we celebrate this remarkable initiative. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Daven Prashar,a dedicated philanthropist who has traveled all the way from Canada to visit our chess program in the IDP camps of Nigeria. Mr. Daven reached out to me earlier this year, expressing his commitment to visiting the children, and we are delighted that he has now arrived. He has generously provided us with Arduinos to help advance technology education for the children at Betharbel Free Elementary School for IDP kids, established by Monisola Aiyekusehin in Durumi IDP camp, Abuja. This initiative will also benefit children in various IDP camps in North East Nigeria.
