So I went to @NSPAmaldives office on the 6th floor of Ma. Uthuruvehi becoz I tried calling their hotline 1402, their landline 3005353 repeatedly and calls dropped after being on hold for 2-3 mins. Here is what I noticed: The reception was abt 8ft x 10ft including the counter, with the counter in the middle. Abt 4ft x 5ft of actual space packed with ppl there for service. 2 service seats on the counter. Only one manned. Abt 9 ppl waiting. No queue system. No organization. One woman was there becoz they kept sending her the wrong persons documents via email. Not once but twice. She needed hers for an application with a deadline presumably today. She had to physically go there just to tell them they sent the wrong files. Others were there for disability registration info which is supposed to be done via OneGov portal but they cldnt do it and no info was given since they cldnt get through on the phone. Some came all the way from Hulhumale just to get basic info. Imagine what ppl in the islands hv to go through. One person came asking for an application form. Apparently they dont give forms there so he has to go somewhere else to get a printout. He was furious. Another person came out and I asked why they r not answering their hotline. The answer was they r understaffed and too many calls today. Said they r overwhelmed. And I cld see tht. So what actually is happening in the social protection and welfare system @MMuizzu? Why is it being ignored? I do not think this is how things shld be.
