The first time I watched Cristian Derbyshire (2006) was in 2022 where he was playing for Panorama U17 against Kaizer Chiefs U17, the Chiefs attackers gave him a tough time that day and many who watched the video clips made fun of how he was dribbled but that didn’t discourage him in fact it made him more hungry to succeed. The boy kept on improving and went on to become a key player and captain in the Panorama U19 team. His defending and his passing range got better and he also became a serious threat in set plays. For me the master stroke in his development was when Panorama promoted him to their Hollywoodbets Regional League team, the competitiveness, intensity and physicality of the league really took his game to another level. He was a regular in the Panorama team that won their stream in the Hollywoodbets Regional League in 2024 but faltered in the Playoffs. In April 2025, Cristian played for the Invitational XI at the Pirates Cup and even though they didn’t make it out of the group stages his performances were enough to convince the Buccaneers to sign him. Cristian scored on his debut for the Orlando Pirates DDC team and seems to have secured his spot in the Starting XI. In all my interactions with him the boy has always been respectful and down to earth, I’m really happy for this young man and may he have a long and successful professional football career.
