You have rights, but the broker also has the right to drop your ass from their services so keep that in mind. If they say "Oh, we have to send you certificates and it's going to cost this much", tell them you don't want physical certificates; they're unnecessary and you're trying to do your part for the environment.😎👌 you know... For the bees & trees, for the amys & snails. Oops did I say amys? I meant to say whales. It says right there in black and white (or in this case red, white and blue) "IF SO ARRANGED". I.e. if you would like to arrange to have paper certificates sent to you than that it's done so at YOUR discretion; not the brokers. It's not a prerequisite to transfer to the transfer agent in your name in book entry. If they give you the run around again, escalate the call. If they still give you the run around, get the supervisors contact information or try escalating the call again, and document it. At some point they have to comply. As the beneficial owner, you have the authority over your broker/intermediary (in regards to property rights) as to what is to be done with your investments. This framework exists under Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which governs investment securities in the United States and has been adopted by ALL 50 STATES. Key relevant sections include: UCC § 8-503: Establishes that the beneficial owner has a property interest in the financial assets held by the broker, even if the broker holds legal title or has a security interest in them. The owner's interest extends to proceeds and distributions from the assets. UCC § 8-506: Requires the broker to exercise rights related to the securities (such as voting or consenting) only as directed by the beneficial owner. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 UCC § 8-507: Imposes a duty on the broker to comply with "entitlement orders" from the beneficial owner, which can include instructions to transfer, sell, or otherwise handle the securities. Non-compliance can lead to liability for the intermediary. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 UCC § 8-509: Specifies that these duties must be performed in a commercially reasonable manner, and they can be further detailed by agreements, statutes, or regulations. Hey, as you know @jordanbpeterson has been really sick. A lot of people have been asking for updates so here’s one. He’s recovering slowly day by day but I won't lie, it's slow and scary. He won't be back for another few months at least, probably longer. We’re not entirely sure what’s going on but it looks like possibly severe CIRS and a LOT of bad luck. Or we’re getting spiritually attacked. Or both. To be perfectly honest, I think a lot of this is spiritual. My newborn Audrey almost died of heart failure for no reason in June, dad got sick and came to stay with us in July, then needed a hospital and the same day he went to the hospital by ambulance, my newborn turned blue (again) at home for a different reason not heart related and went a different hospital by ambulance. Within 3 hours of each other. It's been one thing after another in an otherworldly type of way. In the meantime, we'll be going full force with @petersonacademy, and keeping his message across his brand alive while he recovers. Not letting demons get in the way of that. Prayers are MUCH appreciated. Ephesians 6:12
