Hvad brugte du sidst du havde menstruation?
Bind? Tamponer? Menstruationskop? Menstruationstrusser? Noget femte? Det håber jeg at du vil svare på i mit spørgeskema survey-xact.dk/LinkCollector?… som undersøger hvilke menstruationsprodukter folk bruger i dag 🩸

Just got the keys for my office for the next two weeks here @LiuTema at Linköping University, where I am excited to share my research with the Tema Genus group and to continue the more-than-human discussions Ericka Johnson and I started last Monday. 🩸

Final day of #SMCR23 and I’m knitting away! Got inspired by talks by my Nordic colleagues @CRostvik and Matleena Frisk to knit a pad along lines of how Norwegians and Finns did it historically. @MenstruationOrg

Amazing ‘Drawing blood’ workshop this afternoon at #SMCR23 with @MenstruationOrg 🩸
I’m reading-writing about new materialist methods these days, appreciating the synergy between this advertisement-art-exercise and @rcecoleman work on worlding with glitter ✨

English

It was great to share my material perspectives on menstruation with the @MenstruationOrg today at #SMCR23 🔥 and not least to dig into my ethnographic material and show how menstrual materialities form new grounds for understanding periods and bodies 🩸

@SigneBanke gave a great talk on menstrual materialities at #SMCR23 @MenstruationOrg How we collect blood impacts on or subjective experience of menstruation. Great use of theory in an accessible manner

Great talk by Mia Sondergaard on talking about gynaecological issues in the consulting room - doing a good physical examination is as important as talking about intimate matters #SMCR23 @MenstruationOrg

This pack of tissues by @periodsupplies reminds me of the @uk_unsanitary campaign some years back, beautifully reminding us how not having a period product is also material.

Talking about the (vibrant) materiality of menstrual products, we must not forget what the materiality of not having a product at hand looks and feels like, sticking toilet paper (many do so!) or as @uk_unsanitary points to - newspaper in your underwear. Unpleasantly vibrant.

I call it ‘confessional’ effects because I experience how a special space emerges when I present my area of research. Any @MenstruationOrg people experiencing this too, and who perhaps have done research into this?

A @MenstruationOrg highlight to me was (no surprise) the material culture panel @MenstruationOrg with Harry Finley, @CRostvik @SharraVostral & @MsMenstruation 🩸
Here, Finley notes the ‘confessional’ effects of the Museum of Menstruation on visitors, saying it was the best thing.

Excited for the second day of the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research conference here in Washington DC area🩸
I’ll present my paper on menstrual materialities with empirical examples from my ethnographic fieldwork tomorrow

Never not documenting period product aisles🛒
While the selection in this smaller supermarket next to #nordicsts2023 isn’t overwhelming the placement is a first: right above the cat food and next to the party supplies 🎉 Not sure what that says about period products as a category

English

My paper is part of the panel on ‘Technoscientific entanglements of reproduction’ with @MsMenstruation and @CleeveHelena tomorrow Wednesday #nordicsts2023, parallel session 2 at 14:00. So if you’re in the market for some🩸new materialist methods please join us!

A little ironing before #nordicsts2023
I’ll be handing out ‘bloody’ sensing bags at my talk, discussing posthuman methods and what possibilities of access may arise from treating materials as research companions 🩸
