Utility of $IOTA for data exchange & digital identity is going global! We've seen the EU & IOTA working on this for years. But now the concept of Digital Product Passports (DPP) on IOTA have extended globally. We've seen it expand to Africa already thru ADAPT. And most recently it seems that Asia is up next. This is through IOTA's partnership with Orobo, a a Singapore-based clearing house for sustainability data. Within this collaboration DPPs were utilized for battery passports for electric buses. But the lifecycle to these assets are much more complicated than most imagine. With parts initially coming from OEM suppliers in China, spanning to operational headquarters in Singapore & finally deployment of these batteries in the Netherlands. The basic operations of manufacturing and delivery already create a long paper trail of data. Orobo works as a neutral layer for data verification. It doesn’t own or control product data, but provides the infrastructure through which all participants can independently verify it. They've since started using IOTA as a neutral ledger for verification of these DPPs. This is essential in supply chains especially times where parties have no prior relations but require a unified data platform for a source of truth. –––––––– IOTA is one of the few putting a focus around developments in this part of supply chains. It's one of the most fundamental use cases of DLT. Establishing a neutral layer of trust. As DPPs continue to roll out worldwide, it seems IOTA is becoming a preferred standard in this.
