WATCH VIDEO | Zimbabwe unveils home-grown laptop brand as Avantis enters global tech race ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera and Avantis CEO Ari Goldstein have officially unveiled the latest Avantis devices at a high-end launch event now underway in Harare, marking a major moment for Zimbabwe’s emerging technology industry. Positioned as a Zimbabwean alternative in a global laptop market long dominated by foreign brands, the new Avantis range combines faster processing speeds, lightweight premium builds and internationally aligned standards, while remaining accessible to local consumers. At the heart of the devices is the company’s Ultra-chip technology, which Avantis says powers faster, smarter and more energy-efficient computing for students, professionals, creatives and businesses alike. #TechNews #ZimbabweInnovation #Avantis

@Wilbert_Muza Maybe it should incorporate the houses on the course and make it a golf estate , add some restaurants and entertainment too . Right now it’s a white elephant as a golf course alone , make it multipurpose

Losing golf courses is not progress it is a clear sign of lack of vision. The individuals who originally designed and invested in these golf courses were thinking far beyond sport. They understood tourism, international investment, business networking, real estate value, and the longterm prestige attached to worldclass recreational infrastructure. The recent FBC Zim Open Golf Tournament exposed an important reality, nearly 90% of the participating golfers were foreign. That alone should tell us that golf is not merely a leisure activity it is an international economic and tourism asset. Instead of watching these spaces deteriorate or disappear, Zimbabwe should be repositioning them as strategic investment hubs. Falcon Golf Club, for example, carries enormous untapped potential to attract global investors and evolve into a premium 5 star hotel and golfing resort capable of drawing international tournaments, tourists, business conferences, and foreign currency into the country. Nations that think long-term protect and modernise such institutions. Nations that abandon them often realise their value when it is already too late.

@tapiwa4 @fridaydrinks_ And how many people have access to helicopters ? Access should be for everyone not a niche market , the roads were functional once upon a time . Just retar the road and it’s an easy fix

“We should stop scoring own goals. We should actually fix the roads.” - Rufaro 🚩 Overregulation, poor infrastructure and bad policy continue to hold back Zimbabwe’s tourism sector. Reflections on the “good old days” in investment banking - when the team could leave Harare at 5pm after closing a good deal and arrive in Kariba just 3 hours later for a weekend getaway. Today, bad roads and limited accessibility are making travel unnecessarily difficult. “The tourism sector can benefit from Zimbabweans who are here in Zimbabwe: domestic tourism.” - Ranga 🎙️Watch @baba_nyenyedzi, @dziya_mya and @rufarogz discuss tourism, infrastructure, domestic travel and what Zimbabwe needs to do to better promote itself as a destination. @RodwellMup70051 @curious_edline One of the cleanest countries you can live in , they have tonnes of dust but they have a sense of pride in keeping their cities smart and clean as a citizenry. They are easier and cleaned daily at night and their citizens help keep them Clean by using bins and not littering etc

@zimpricecheck These systems and ideas only work with law abiding motorists in a functional society. People in Zim can’t even obey traffic lights and the basic roads rules , they just stop anywhere make their own turninglanes etc it’s a good idea but enforcing it is another story

Harare has a growing congestion problem. Main affected routes include Bulawayo Road, Second Street, Mutare Road and Simon Mazorodze. Maybe having dedicated bus lanes on these routes for kombis will be faster and safer for everyone. Kombis generally create their own bus lanes, often blocking other traffic, driving on the wrong side of the road and nudging motorists so they can squeeze in during peak hours.

@FlorenceMago @Mlandeli_Ndlela It comes with its own perils, lots of smaller towns & cities rely heavily on passing traffic and trade. Look at the Chivhu bypass which has now had a bad effect on their Cbd, people don’t stop anymore. It’s finding a balance, smaller cities need traffic bigger cities not so much

@FlorenceMago @Mlandeli_Ndlela That’s the shortest routes to those places, maybe they can put bypasses on those towns so you don’t pass through them but there is no shorter routes to these areas . Doing other routes makes travel time longer and costs billions

@CdeNgomaNeHosho @Ezphase1 The link is not the interchange , the link is the continuation of harare drive . This is not necessary , plenty other interchanges along much busier roads required before this. PRIORITISE what we essential and these others can come after .

A new Interchange is coming! Land clearing is now underway on the construction of an interchange on Harare Drive and Airport Road . Once completed, the Interchange will significantly improve traffic flow and strengthen the capital’s network, reflecting Government’s commitment to modern , efficient and world -class infrastructure development. @MandereJohn @Mlandeli_Ndlela The problem is the three main roads and intersections leading to airport. Do those first the harare drive & airport interchange doesn’t need this fancy interchange. Build interchanges at Seke Road , Chiremba and Glenara and finish the railway flyover to second street

Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe
Hon. Adv. F.T. Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, today toured the construction works of the new Cloverleaf Interchange at the intersection of Harare Drive and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Road (Airport Road). The transformative project forms part of Government’s ongoing efforts to decongest one of Harare’s busiest transport corridors, improve travel times to R.G. Mugabe International Airport, and enhance road safety for all road users. Addressing journalists during the tour, Hon. Adv. Mhona described the project as a long-awaited development milestone, applauding His Excellency, President Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, for championing infrastructure modernisation and development across the country. The Minister also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to accountability and delivering quality infrastructure that directly benefits citizens. Upon completion, the Interchange project will pave the way for the development of 10 additional interchanges from Glenara and associated routes, significantly improving traffic flow within the capital. Hon. Adv. Mhona was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Eng. J.P. Makumbe, Heads of Parastatals, and other senior Government officials. #KilometerbyKilometer #InfrastructureDevelopment

So it sits well with you, that there is nothing wrong with a school named after a terrorist like Allan Wilson, because for you it is was built by them? Your reasoning is scary Mr PT. Imagine a school named after Bin Ladin in Washington DC
Mr PT@PTChimusoro

@AlexanderRusero Mukoma, you are being deliberately obtuse. When a school was named Prince Edward, who had built it? They built and named it. Why aren’t we willing to do the same? Let’s build our things and name them as we will.

This downpour of heavy rain the golf course and the grounds will be waterlogged. Tomorrow, the conditions for Zim Open will likely be unplayable, balls plugging on landing and the mud. I foresee the conditions not being playable. And Zim Open Golf Tournament is up this whole weekend.

When a child is raised with strong values and a sense of responsibility, those qualities tend to carry through into adulthood. The way they approach work, community, and service often reflects the foundation laid in their early years. Today, Miss Tinotenda Tungwarara, CEO of Prevail Mart, put those principles into practice through her donation of food hampers to healthcare workers at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. She also pledged to make the donations a monthly commitment, extending the support beyond a single gesture into ongoing assistance for the hospital’s staff.
