Oil price spike due to war naturally killed all rate cut expectations in the US. Now, economists are discussing whether FED should hike the rates or not. If the oil price increase is perceived as one-off or likely to be reversed right after the war, then US monetary policy should stay muted. In other words, FED should not react to the recent oil price increase. A contrarian view would be that oil price increases usually trigger a drop in demand, which could force central banks to ease their monetary policy. The jury is still out there for this. I hope war ends soon.
