As the Olympics have concluded, it's important to note that Olympic gold medals are actually crafted from sterling #silver and finished with a delicate layer of gold. At the heart of the highest honor lies the brilliance of silver. The Silver Institute celebrates all Olympic champions and the silver that makes their victory shine.

The underlying drivers that supported silver throughout much of 2025 have remained in place so far this year. These include tight physical supply in London, a volatile geopolitical backdrop, US policy uncertainty, and concerns over the Federal Reserve's independence. In addition, silver's underlying supply-demand fundamentals remain supportive as the market is expected to remain in deficit (total supply less demand) for a sixth consecutive year in 2026. From the @WhiteHouse factsheet on the global 10% tariff (section 122): Critical minerals (which include silver and PGMs), metals used in currency and bullion (all precious metals products), are exempted. If that still leaves any doubt, there is also a second line item stating they will not tariff any natural resource the US is net short on. whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/20……

Section 122 allows temporary tariffs (up to 15%) for up to 150 days to address balance-of-payments issues, without needing immediate Congressional approval. It is a rarely used tool (never fully invoked in modern times), so details like product-specific exemptions would likely come via implementing regulations, executive orders, or US Customs guidance in the coming days or weeks. We are back in the murky 1H'25 phase. The administration INTENDS for Gold and other precious metals to be exempted, but this is not stated now.
