@PeptideDesk @KeruboSk I'm in tears. I'm past 50 and only figured this out recently because of my kiddo's diagnosis. I was the classic overachiever x ♾️ half my life until I hit the total burnout wall. I didn't know what it was. This helps me remember the relief of figuring out I'm not a failure.

neurodivergent burnout is distinct from general burnout it’s specifically the collapse of compensatory mechanisms. masking, adapting, and overriding your natural processing style takes enormous cognitive and metabolic resources. when those reserves deplete the nervous system stops being able to perform the workarounds that made functioning look ‘normal.’ recovery isn’t rest it’s removing the demand to compensate.
