1,000TH TRAINING 🎉🚑 Alongside crews at Badger Fire and Rescue, Simulation in Motion – Iowa made history last week as we celebrated 1,000 trainings since the start of our program in June 2022. THANK YOU for trusting us to train your teams and for allowing us to serve the state.

Serving a small community means knowing your patients — and being ready when they need you most. Oxford Junction Ambulance responds to a low call volume each year, most involving breathing difficulties. This training focused on two respiratory scenarios: adult CHF and infant RSV.

We were on site this week with Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District for some hands-on skills time, and breaking in some new equipment. We set up skills stations to review: IO placement and insertion technique, application of new CPAP equipment, and proper use of new splints

We rolled our eastern Iowa truck back into Blairstown for more hands-on training with Blairstown Ambulance. This round focused on syncope with traumatic injury. To make it even more realistic, our own SIM-IA educator Hannah stepped in as a live patient for one of the scenarios.

We think a little added realism goes a long way in immersive training. Gerald debuted his newest look during our visit to Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage! SIM-IA's adult simulator suited up as an elderly gentleman to bring our hypothermia scenario to life. 👴👓

It’s that time of year - just warm enough to take down the holiday decorations and hear the playground come back to life. We put SCFR through two timely fall scenarios: A pediatric fall from the monkey bars resulting in a fracture and an adult fall from a ladder caused by syncope

Yesterday, we partnered with @ClarindaHealth for on-site simulations held right inside their own hospital. Whether a team needs a simple skill refresher or a complex, multi-layered clinical emergency, SIM-IA scales our scenarios to meet any challenge! #Iowa #healthcare

On Tuesday, members of Des Moines’ metro-area tactical unit trained with SIM-IA, a mobile simulation program administered by @IowaNursing. Using realistic human simulators, officers practiced administering life-saving care such as packing wounds and applying tourniquets. 🚓🩸

When you average 3,200+ miles a month, it’s no wonder the trucks get thirsty. ⛽ SIM-IA and its partners believe geography shouldn’t limit outcomes. With every visit to a new community, we’re leveling the playing field for rural Iowans who rely on quick, high-quality care. #uiowa

Northwood, and rural Iowa communities like it, are safer because of SIM-IA, which delivers emergency care education directly to first responders. Our truck visited Northwood Fire & EMS to practice proper chest pain protocols and work through an infant cardiac arrest scenario.

Whether responding to a full-blown cardiac arrest or a suspected stroke, SIM-IA worked with Denver Ambulance to practice rapid patient assessments and appropriate prehospital interventions. The training also reinforced key foundational concepts related to cardiac devices. #EMS

MarMac Rescue shared a clear goal with SIM-IA: to continually meet and exceed standards in stroke, cardiac, and trauma care. We were happy to support that commitment with training featuring scenarios of chest pain to arrest and a syncope-related fall with traumatic injuries.

Despite the cold, SIM-IA was on the road last week at Crawford County Memorial Hospital ☃️ Training included pediatric sepsis and infant cardiac arrest interventions. Thanks to the CCMH crew for your dedication to continued training and patient care, no matter the temperature. 🤭
