@HonWangari As a teacher I got affected by this unfortunate incident. It was more saddening to learn that at least two teachers had prior information about the incident, but against the obligations of a professional teacher opted to allow the arsonists to actualize their evil plans.
Condolimg with the families of our girls who sadly perished in the fire tragedy at Utumishi Girls.
Visited the family of the late Cecilia Wanjiku, our NGCDF scholar, at their home in Kambi Somali. Later visited the family of the late Jane Wambui Kimani at their home in Gema. I also met the parents of Nicole Mitchell of Teachers B.
This is an incredibly painful moment for the families, friends, and the entire community. We continue to pray for strength, comfort, and healing for all those affected by this tragedy.
Thank you Deputy Speaker, @GladysShollei, Hon Sonko, Sen @CrystalAsige for standing with us and condoling with the families during this difficult time.
@jumaf3 It is alleged that the Principal and at least two teachers had prior information of the plan to set the dorm ablaze, but opted to allow the incident to proceed.
Eight students suspected to have been involved in the arson attack Utumishi Girls Academy that killed 16 girls have been arrested. The police say the 8 were caught on CCTV cameras carrying out the act. What kind of evil kids are these ones? Again, who gave them the fuel?
@TabbyKanyungu It is so saddening to learn that the Principal and at least two teachers had prior information about the incident and did nothing to prevent it. They'll never have peace for the rest of their days of harsh judgement on earth.
Looks like the Utumishi Girls incident has revived some old memories. It's sad. It's painful. Before charging the students, the School Principal should be behind bars. There is a reason why they have a house in the school compound. May all the Innocent young souls Rest in Peace
@Broadbasedgal Congratulations Mheshimiwa for identifying and utilising this solemn occurrence to hit hard on the individuals you named, especially OKM and the GoK which is led by the person's you don't fesr. Congratulations too for using this to the advantage of your political party.
DCP is already blaming the government for the Utumishi Fire Tragedy.
John Methu claims the CS for Interior is responsible and is demanding his resignation, arguing that he never drove from Nairobi to Gilgil to rescue the students.
It is at times like these that we realise just how statesman & selfless a leader Raila Odinga was.
During tragedies, he always reached out to the affected families. He never blamed his opponents or tried to score cheap political points.
I remember vividly that after he lost the 2013 election following the Supreme Court ruling, terrorists attacked Westgate Mall, where many lives were lost. Even though Baba was still bitter and believed the election had been stolen from him, he put his differences aside and joined his opponent, then-President Uhuru Kenyatta, to visit the victims in various hospitals.
But these Wamunyoro fellows always look for an incident or tragedy to score cheap political points. Talk of Jirongo accident, Raila’s death, Ng’eno’s Helicopter Crash, and so on.
They don’t seem to care whether families are hurting, what matters to them is politics, nothing else.
People who follow these fellas need to wake up. These are not leaders!
@EngJohnMachari1 Kenyan jobless youth are watching keenly the quickest way of securing employment. Availability of vacancies and advertisements are not necessary.
Jubilee Delegates Meeting but Uhuru is speaking Kikuyu while Matiangi is just seated there. It's about who will control Mt Kenya votes, is it DCP or Jubilee?
President Ruto's Security should all be fired because if this guy had a knife the President would be dead. This is actually very dangerous and is happening the third time now.
@BenjiNdolo Protracted civil action by the transport sector is not beneficial to that sector, the country and the government. Things will go back to normal once the Strait of Hormuz is opened.
How quickly the government has moved and neutered a serious civil action by Matatu, shows how sharp Gen Z are and how they understand both the society and Ruto. It is mind blowing how accurate they were!
