𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗖𝗬 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗙 | 𝗧𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀: 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 TMC, in collaboration with the Internet Governance Tanzania Working Group (IGTWG), presents Issue 07 of the Tanzania State of Internet Governance Series an advocacy brief exploring the intersection of digital taxation, regulation, and the sustainability of Tanzania’s emerging creator economy. As Tanzania’s digital landscape expands, platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube are becoming key sources of income. However, the introduction of taxation policies such as the 5% withholding tax on digital content creators, alongside restrictive regulatory practices, reveals a growing disconnect between revenue collection and ecosystem growth. Key areas highlighted in the brief include: ✴️ The rise of the creator economy as a driver of income and innovation ✴️ The impact of the Finance Act 2024 on digital content creators and digital assets ✴️ Internet shutdowns and platform instability as sources of economic disruption ✴️ Limited access to global monetization systems and financial exclusion of creators ✴️ The classification challenges and “identity crisis” of digital workers ✴️ The need for a minimum taxable threshold to support micro-creators ✴️ High data costs and infrastructural barriers affecting content production ✴️ The role of digital infrastructure and payment systems in enabling growth ✴️ Strategic policy recommendations for a stable, inclusive, and enabling digital ecosystem This advocacy brief calls for a balanced approach where taxation is aligned with supportive regulation, ensuring that Tanzania’s digital economy remains open, predictable, and capable of driving innovation, employment, and inclusive growth. 🔗 Read the full brief here: bit.ly/AdvocacyBrief2… #TMC #IGTWG #SIG2026 #TDC2026 #DigitalRights

Rufaa ya juzi kwa mambo yasikatiwa rufaa ni ushahidi mwingine kwamba hakuna kesi bali kumpotezea Mwenyekiti muda wake na kumtesa.. Huu ni mwezi sasa Mahakama iko kimya, tunajiuliza kesi yenye uzito kama huu kwa mtu ambae amekaa ndani mda wote huu.. inakuaje mahakama isione urgency kwenye jambo hili.. Mahakama iliyotegemewa kutoa haki na kumaliza jambo hili kwa haraka, inapokaa kimya kunakua na mashaka makubwa.. Sisi hatuwezi kuendelea kunyamazia suala hili. Tunataka huu uhuni ukome haraka , Mwenyekiti wetu aachiwe arudi kufanya wajibu wake. Wanachama wetu na Watanzania hawataendelea kukalia kimya uonevu wa wazi kwa mtu asiye na hatia.
