@kawauni_ I know professional studios still using 3DSMAX 2008. They build a system that works for them and never want to change it.

@KatDoes3D Honestly, I'm sceptical that anyone has come up with a framework for planning successful games. Game design is generally the study of existing games, which in itself has already exploring old and stale ideas. It's much better to study game development, the process of creating.

Hello, actual game designers. Wannabe game designer, here. How do I pursue an actual understanding of game design? How do I learn more for real? The last thing on EARTH I want to do is form gamer opinions, and I'm super interested in design. Where do I start? 🩷

Casually rendering ~a hundred million triangles, in the browser. All thanks to @sea3dformat's cool Nanite-style renderer for @threejs. I've added GLB-to-meshlet and PBR rendering to it, very exciting to see where this is going!

@SebAaltonen How much of this is reusing existing algos versus novel techniques?

AI asset with our remeshing + high->low poly UV workflow versus a heavy simplified raw AI asset. So much nicer and the new asset LODs further. Only tens of UV island instead of thousands.

@justalexoki Whether it's true or not, it's impossible to know if it's actually vulnerable free. There may already be millions of programs that are in such a state.

@gaxrav Why would something so infinite (the cartesian plane) ever confine itself into finite beings (x^2 + y^2 = r^2). A universe may be infinite but you don't care about infinity-1 of it.

@0interestrates You're probably not a good coder. AI code is more appalling than what it writes.

why do people (including me) have an aversion to AI writing but not as much to AI code? if a piece of text smells AI i stop reading it but i use things coded entirely with AI every day

@tomfgoodwin It also ensures the world REMAINS built for humans. Effectively it means we will retain backwards compatibility with tools, machinery, vehicles etc.

The best way to defeat liberals in argument is to argue from the left of them. $15 minimum wage, why not $100? Asylum? why not open borders? They have no principles they can call on to limit their own arguments.

CASTLE LAW NOW 😡 Donnybrook, Melbourne. January 2024. Three masked criminals armed with axes storm into a family home in the dead of night. Inside was a pregnant woman, terrified and pleading for mercy as she was attacked in her own bedroom. Her partner did what any decent man should do - he fought back. And hard. He disarmed one of the invaders and stopped the threat before his family was butchered by this gang of animals, villains who had planned the attack in advance with masks, weapons, and fuel cans. Unbelievably, he was initially charged with murder. How have we sunk this low and this ‘woke’ ? Let this next part be said clearly. The only people responsible for what happened that night were the criminals. They chose violence and terror. They chose to invade a house occupied by innocent people, including a pregnant woman. I have absolute sympathy for the homeowners whose sense of safety will likely never fully recover. They are the victims. As for the intruders injured and killed during this pathetic escapade - spare me the public mourning. Violent home invaders who enter homes armed with axes should fully expect they will be buried. And never allowed to leave. This is not tragedy, it’s consequence. Every Australian has the fundamental right to defend their family and their own life against violent predators. No law-abiding citizen should ever have to face prosecution for refusing to become another helpless victim of armed criminals. - Domenic Strangio.

The point is simple We keep hearing about this 10-1000x in productivity – yet all developments seem completely lateral. I have repeatedly asked for ONE single example of this inhumane exaltation above human quality. A single uber-high quality product from this 100x productivity that would've taken a dedicated autistic coder 10+ years in their basement to make, but made in around 1 year with AI assistance. Show us. Stand up and show the class. Entire comment section is a vague "you know nothing jon snow" rebuttal - not a single example. There are zero. zilch. There is nothing. AI is not even close to the level you think it is. Silicon valley marketing.
BONESAW 🕊️@BonesawMD

Everyone has been 'vibe coding' for like 2 years with this 'insane' tool and there are still 0 (zero) notable game changing products that compare to what dedicated humans created in their basements prior to AI. Anyone w/ expertise in any subject immediately realises how overrated it is for giving you anything beyond the most basic information in it. If you can legitimately write, any writing produced by an LLM is a disgusting insult to all of your senses. Good for the boring and tediously repetitive tasks + organising information, but still so unreliable and far away from what Silicon Valley keep trying to shill us.

I've dedicated months to a project that might be entirely a wasted venture. The pool projection thing is a very big ask for each customer. - They need a pool table. - They need a suitable projector mounted above it - They need a suitable camera mounted above it - They need a PC with a GPU - They need to train a model on their balls in their environment Even if it goes no where, it's alive in my studio and it's by far the coolest thing I've ever built, and it's going to turn me into a monster pool player.
