Onghala Fishermen Decry Theft and Harsh Conditions Fishermen from Onghala village in the Ongenga constituency of the Ohangwena Region have raised concerns over increasing challenges affecting their livelihoods. Speaking to Eagle FM on Sunday, 3 May 2026, Israel Nghalipo explained that fishing has long been a reliable source of food and income for their families and community. However, this year they are facing theft and vandalism, with unknown individuals cutting their fishing nets and stealing fish. Another fisherman, Friedrick Natangwe, noted that although fishing is usually successful and yields good harvests, weather conditions also pose difficulties. He highlighted that during cloudy periods, fish take longer to dry, affecting their quality and ability to sell.
