@Simon_Tyers

@whydontyoutube for old telly, @sweepingnation for music. Mostly now at the cloudless place. Thistles in me hair and bracken up me anus.

@BothersBar Would have been the fourth most watched programme of 2024. WHY WON'T THE BBC DROP THIS FLOP SHOW.

@BothersBar "Popular Taskmaster-filled show", because nobody in it has ever done anything else.

@BothersBar It could be anyone! (assuming 'anyone' only means the band not only named long ago but actually listed in the DigiGuide blurb for The Big Eurovision Party)

It is! At half eight but apparently not important enough to make the highlights blurbs earlier in the month. I will add them later.

@BothersBar I assumed University Challenge was there to create a two hour quiz block for the fortnight.

For one year only I'm bringing back #xmaswhattimeisit, mainly because I'm at work today. So it's MONDAY 23rd December, it's just a normal working day get over yourselves. Here's today's Festive Broadcaster entry:

@BothersBar ...this is what happens when you go to the end of the show first. (Also, that well known rapper Michael Jackson)

@Simon_Tyers Isn't it? That version 25 minutes in is pretty much the rap as I remember and includes that!

@BothersBar But it's still not the full "don't fret, get set..." version! Is this a Mandela effect?

@BothersBar Assume they wanted a consistent two hour quiz block over the prime period.

Just updating the Festive Broadcaster with Celebrity Mastermind (seemingly demoted to BBC2). Sounds like Wheel of Fortune gets to enjoy a Gladiators free week on Jan 4th, presumably Glads launching Jan 11th. Waste? Don't know. bothersbar.co.uk/?p=14924

New Year's Day is going to do *crazy* business for BBC1 with Traitors and Celeb Glads (allegedly). NYD has more live eyes on it than Xmas Day these days, although it might be a bit different this year with Wallace and Grommitt and Gavin and Stacey.

@BothersBar Feels weirdly self-defeating these days in that there's more CIN branded prime time BBC1 programming than ever (the challenges, the celebrity shows, The One Show builds up to it for seemingly months) but because the night is shorter and less entertaining it feels far less.

@MrPhilNorman Was surprised a while back to see an episode in which one of the side actors was a post-Edgar Briggs David Jason. No wonder the BBC didn't think he could lead a sitcom, he was already heading back down the bill.

Around the same time Granada's The Krypton Factor debuted, ATV launched The Masterspy, a Bond-themed quiz show hosted with suave elan by William Franklyn. It put up a good fight, but Gordon Burns' more austere contest won out.

Doctor Who in the realm of the senses ("Aiee, no! Corridor!"), Richard Briers in Board Game Hell, Jesus Christ in dungarees and Aylesbury's finest musician in a tussle with gravity. Cor baby, that's issue three! open.substack.com/pub/historyoft…
