Butterflies can show strong weather induced fluctuations. In this NL butterfly indicator graph the index can deter 20 percentage points from the trendline. This spring numbers are above normal, weather is good for most species. But that doesn't mean butterflies are doing well.

Last week we had a fruitful meeting with all co-ordinators of Butterfly Monitoring Schemes in Europe. Afterwards we had a lovely evening with paella at the office of Vlinderstichting in Wageningen, Netherlands.
