The club were reported to the Football Association following Tuesday night's encounter against Sutton United with a bottle thrown onto the playing surface by a supporter located in the Britcon Stand. Scunthorpe United will continue to work closely with the police and football authorities to investigate this incident, and to ultimately stamp out this, and other types, of spectator misconduct. Ensuring the safety of all supporters, players, officials and staff is always of paramount importance to Scunthorpe United Football Club and the throwing of objects at football stadia is very dangerous and a serious offence. Any supporter identified to have committed such an act will be banned by the club and also subject to the possibility of criminal prosecution and football banning orders. We would also like to remind supporters that if there are incidents of this nature reported, then the Football Association have the power to impose serious financial penalties on the club which will almost certainly impact on its playing resources, and the frequency in which these incidents have taken place this season now make this a real possibility.
