@jjarichardson In 2012 and 2013 Labour looked set to win in 2015, especially with UKIP splitting the right wing vote. One of the reasons why I don’t trust anyone confidently predicting 2029

@SoLovelyChaotic @JamiemArch2017 Ah there’s a neighbourhood in Athens called Metz too! It was actually named after a German brewery that was established there so it is likely named for the city in now France

@SimpGanassi @JamiemArch2017 Eating out cheap in FRANCE??? Damn, how expensive is England then? I've never been there. Why would I get an expensive passport to go to an island with British weather when I can fly to Greece or France with my ID card...😉

@CaswellAdrian In Greece they save the arguments for bigger fish like what the country to the north should be allowed to call itself

@SimpGanassi I agree and they’re quite petty over something as trivial as jam and cream too.

@Pinarello_Pete @sluzurb Oh it is. Even in the biggest tourist traps in Tokyo, you’d never pay more than like £10 for lunch. Granted, the weak Yen helps a lot but Japan is really inexpensive

@sluzurb @SimpGanassi There’s plenty of great food in the UK, but you have to expect to pay more for it. I’m sure good quality food in Japan isn’t McDonalds prices either.🤷‍♂️

I was realy hoping Tom Scott would do exactly this when he came by North Yorkshire. Honestly if you grew up anywhere near here and weren't taken to see the sea battle in Peasholme park you need to go and reprimand your clearly negligent parents! youtu.be/cMYYcddinkE?si…

Your argument seems predicated on the rather foolish assumption that everywhere in Greece is Kavos or Malia. Unsurprisingly boutique hotels also exist in other countries and they cost a lot less than your Falmouth B&B. My argument is perfectly sound
MJ Simpson@mjsimpsonfilms

@SimpGanassi Your argument presupposes that some concrete slab of a tourist-packed hotel in baking hot Greece is as nice as a charming B&B in Falmouth on a sunny day. Which it isn't. So your premise if flawed.

Patriotism alone is rarely enough to sustain a product when a competitor is launched offering something better at a lower price point. Just ask British Leyland x.com/gabystubbs1/st…

@SimpGanassi flights down to Newquay ? and we have much better summers nowadays , Jul - Sept usually OK. Forget Greece and their wildfires - back your own country and local business

@SimpGanassi Replies are insane. This country, if it wants people to truly holiday here, needs to invest in these places and come up with a way to make it cheaper to holiday there compared to abroad. Time is precious and ppl would rather spend time in hot weather, cheap food and culture

@SimpGanassi Also a lot if this is dependent on whether you country has invested in domestic travel for example, japan has and every region prides itsef on a foodstuff, and the uk doesnt, and places brag about having the last wimpy burger or whatever

You can get a flight from London to Cornwall for as low as £30. Caravans, AirBNB and Hotels are much cheaper than £100 a night. The food is not expensive, it’s cheaper than major cities and the same supermarkets exist. UK Barbados for 4 months a year. West Country, Gods Country. Over and Out.
Cal@SimpGanassi

I’d love to holiday in Cornwall (never been) BUT it takes six hours to drive there, hotels are at least £100 a night, food is very expensive and the weather is British. Alternatively I can fly to Athens, get a good hotel for half the price, eat out cheaply AND have nice weather

@Cekin15182 Well that’s what I found a Premier Inn for just now. I’ve had replies telling me that’s far too cheap and I should be looking at £150-£200 and others telling me I could get it much cheaper if I tried (eg a caravan for £50 one says)

@SimpGanassi Is it actually £100 a night thats a bit steep for a town in the UK. I actually wanted to go with the lads to cornwall this summer as well actually.
