@SimpGanassi No one mentions the Polynesians. The Maori reached New Zealand by boat in 1200

I have noticed people are far more likely to call something “colonisation” if the colonisers had to get to the colony by boat. Britain colonised the Falklands but the US “expanded” into the Great Plains and the Russian Empire “overran” Central Asia
Patriotic Mud Jumper@IonCarnation

All this Falklands discourse has shown Leftists completely fail to internalize that colonies can and do turn into colonizers themselves. You can't really call what Argentina and Chile did to Patagonia anything other than colonization.

@MrGeorgSplatoon Yeah it’s no coincidence the most powerful countries on earth are those which kept their 19th century empires mostly intact (Russia narrowly in this club)

@SimpGanassi The usa, Russia, and China (debatably other large countries as well) exist as modern day contiguous colonial empires and everyone just kinda ignores it. I feel crazy whenever I bring it up

@actualGage I’m sorry it’s very confusing when you don’t start every sentence with “hi hi, hi ho!”

On the contrary, short people have massive chips on their shoulders which make them act irrationally. People over six foot have nothing to prove and and therefore more reasoned and better decision makers
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

I want a column about how Tuchel is too tall to be an elite manager. The perfect height is 5’10: Ferguson, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Arteta, Simeone. Nobody owes you anything, you have to fight against tall supremacy. Tuchel is 6’4. It breeds nonchalance & entitlement.

@Birdyword With young professionals grad schemes come with a lot of formal mentoring but then when you finish them you’re suddenly… adrift. The support network stops. It can be kinda hard to know what to do on your own especially if you’re not from a socioeconomic background…

What is the Gen Z thing with people wanting mentors? I hear young people talking about wanting mentorship all the time, I don't remember this at all ~10yrs ago

By all definitions the Russian state also colonised Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia but its never how you hear their experiences in the USSR described, at least not in the west anyway

@thomasforth Amazing! I’ve never actually been to Stamford Bridge despite growing up nearby. Driven through plenty when the A64 has been shut though

@SimpGanassi Mackerel Sky in Stamford Bridge. I used to go there all the time growing up, when it was called something different. I actually think it might be even better since being taken over.

York smells of chocolate. The chips are fried in dripping. And a pint is a fiver next door. It's a good day for Yorkshire.
