Yes, I still support the LIRR even if the people who take it are (on average) richer, whiter, and more conservative than me. Because I do think that the exurbs should be accessible by public transit.

NYC being a public transit city means that you also need to be able to get in/out of the city via public transit which requires a well funded LIRR/Metro North/NJ transit. I don't want NYC to be a bubble that you can't enter or leave without a car.
