Our chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, turns out to be one of the richest Ministers of State, having sold his company in 2017. In 2018 he and his wife purchased 7 flats in Ocean Village in Southampton which they rent out. At a time when he was refusing to make inflationary increases to the wages of public service workers stating that we must keep inflation down, and that everyone had to share the pain of this, he increased the rents by over 8%. What a kick in the face for nurses, doctors, and civil servants. When asked about it, he said that he gives the income from the flats which is over £150,000 to charity. He has been asked to provide the names of the charities and evidence of the gifts. Another liar. Another one who does not care about any of us. He will give his budget this week for we mere mortals. If this is another budget for the rich, do not be surprised.
