Between the 24-25 and 25-26 seasons, no other player made as large a jump in "possession-ending actions" as Nico O'Reilly. To attempt more of these (shoot, take-on, pass, touch) is to gain in confidence. In life, remember to take risks. Some day, you'll get your reward.

He didn't score, so it flew under the radar - but against Brentford, Evanilson showed why he is an amazing striker. The way he brings teammates into play is why Bournemouth are always dangerous in attack. I think his link-up is among the best in the PL today. Very old-school.

@1Hungdotuan3 I think it affects the stars who facilitate a lot a bit less! If you're giving the ball away – but you intended to be unselfish – other people react to that slightly differently.

Games like today against Lille are why there's such a gap in opinions about M. Rogers. He is the aggressive one. But when you play this role, you HAVE to convert. When you don't, your teammates roll their eyes, they snatch at their chances, and the team doesn't play as a group.

Video out later this wk. Topic: Brentford's midfield, and why they *might* be better WITHOUT M. Damsgaard. My take: they can't press high as effectively with him at the point of the midfield - and high turnovers are their bread & butter. Prediction is West Ham win here.

This might be the worst thing I've ever seen on a football pitch. On February 21, Nathan Collins came on against Brighton with 44:12 on the watch. Less than ONE MINUTE LATER, he does this: Every time I watch, it gets worse. Can you think of another one? Put it in the comments👇

One of the PL players who took the biggest 'leap' this season is Forest's Elliot Anderson. Despite fighting relegation, he's been one of the standout players in the PL. I think he just had his "signed because ___" moment. Find out who else made the leap: shorturl.at/CNrlE

If you follow the NBA, you may have seen Anthony Edwards tell his coach "IM THE PASS" after this shot against the Clippers. One way to create for your teammates: convince the opponent you'd never pass. Morgan Rogers has done this at Aston Villa. Watch: shorturl.at/kg6Mt

Although Villa are probably eyeing up wingers for this summer, despite his 0 G/A I think it might be worth giving Ian Maatsen a go on the left wing. (3/3) Thx for listening. Check out our recent video on Aston Villa's star player: youtu.be/rkj1aL46fDc?si…

I think Emery often looks frustrated because those two either refuse to take these risks, or don't feel they can as they're not very quick. Despite playing out of position, Donyell Malen was playing well for them in the wide role. Letting him leave may have been a mistake. (2/3)

Why I'm not surprised that Aston Villa's 4-2-3-1 with Sancho & Buendia out wide has looked toothless recently: (1/3) Henry, on Désiré Doué: "we took the risk to play out... to free YOU on a 1v1. Why would you pass the ball back?" Another coach who DESPISES this is Unai Emery.

Rogers and Emery are a perfect fit for each other. Morgan Rogers is at his best when he’s direct. In an era of possession-heavy attacking players, AVFC have something different. What do you call the position Morgan Rogers plays? Full breakdown: shorturl.at/w477q

This isn't a coincidence. Aston Villa also do not play like a typical top Premier League team. Unai Emery's system prioritizes direct, vertical attacks over possession and control. They win games without dominating possession.

What position is Morgan Rogers? (thread) He doesn’t create many chances, or dictate the tempo as an AM. Statistically, he looks nothing like most star attackers in the Premier League. X = player 'usage'. Y = shot-creating actions (involvement in the attack)

@scrapytweets Players who dominate the ball for teams who aren’t expected to win every game seem to have trouble adapting to teams where they don’t dominate the ball

#Eze today vs #Sunderland another example of how “heliocentric” central attacking players don’t fit within ball dominant teams in 2025. Needs time to adapt, but was not nearly involved enough. Still waiting to be shown otherwise on this

The most important skill I'd be looking for in an attacking player is the ability to do things well at SPEED - when there is no time to play X. Simons against Copenhagen looked great - and he had much more time and space than he does every weekend. Still needs lots of growth.
