Three years ago, I started a campaign called Not My Shame. I had no idea that, three years on, it would grow into a movement reaching people all around the world. My campaign is run by a wonderful team; Jo, Lynne, Katy and Sharon, all survivors, doing what they can to make a difference in the lives of other survivors. Each of us is giving our best to open up a conversation that is incredibly difficult, but so important. Not My Shame was created to empower survivors of CSA and to turn up the volume on a conversation that, for much of my life, was kept in the dark. Together, we are bringing it into the light. Today, for the first time EVER, a Not My Shame flag was flown in Wales at Cyngor Gwynedd to mark May 1st, our campaign day. Cyng/Cllr Beca Brown - Llanrug was a huge influence in this motion being passed and I’ve appreciated her support, along with actress Sera Cracroft. Huge thanks to them both, they’ve made a big difference in Wales. We all hope more flags will be flown around the world in 2027. Today has been filled with reflection, friendship, support, strength, and hope, all the things that have mattered so deeply to me throughout my life and recovery. Thank you to everyone who has supported Not My Shame over these past three years. This journey wouldn’t be what it is without you. Especially Lynne for standing with me as the first survivor to wear a tee and have a picture taken. Wow! Does this child realise he’s the manager of a Wearherspoons? He has probably served every crack head and criminal in Braintree but won’t serve a Reform supporter?
