Excited to share some personal news: Welcome to the world Milo Augustine Craggs. Born 12 June 2024. 7 lbs 15.5 ozs. Mum and baby doing well - some ongoing ‘sunbed’ treatment to drop his bilirubin levels, but otherwise all happy and healthy.

@DrLachie could you get it to work with stockfish to show a 3d representation of the next best moves?

For reasons that I can't adequately explain, even to myself, I've coded up a pipeline in python and blender that can take a chess pgn file and then recreate the game in 3d. I might get better piece models and then see if I can do anything cool with it. Open to ideas

Internet friends, I’m thrilled to share our work out today in @Nature! We've developed a label-free, single-molecule method using high-finesse microcavities, enabling us to profile molecules in solution. 1/10 nature.com/articles/s4158…

Evolutionary history is full of 'seconds' - secondarily aquatic lineages, secondarily flightless lineages - but they seem to struggle with counting further. Water>land>water is common, but water>land>water>land is to my knowledge unheard of. Anyone know of an exception?

@AlexNeedsSpace Incredible how often labs in house protocols will say stuff like "this ONLY works if the thermoshaker is facing east" and then the method sections in their papers won't even say they used a thermoshaker

Remember kids, if someone says your paper has too many details and that you should remove them, there's a poor grad student trying to replicate results from a publication with barely any information

@SOPHONTSIMP I think in the same way that any new idea for public transport would get optimised into being a train, any new idea for a flying car would get optimised into being a helicopter

@d08890 I assume you mean for something to eat on the go? Tesco will do meal deals that may well be healthier depending on what you pick but greggs better if you want some kind of pastry
