Recently, I've been thinking a lot about human ideology and AGI - not just the different kinds of ideological approaches to AGI, but what it means for AGI ideology to exist at all. AGI will be the first technology with a high P(Doom) not created in a secret government lab. This makes it uniquely susceptible to the influence of ideology, a dynamic with far-reaching consequences that few people are aware of.
