Alberta's current annual budget is $77 Billion. By leaving Canada, Alberta would have an additional $30 Billion annually to provide the few services delivered by the Federal Government. The "economist" says Alberta would not be able to afford being an independent country because: “Anything that is currently done by the federal government now would need to be done by the province of Alberta,” . . . “You need your own version of the RCMP, you’d have to have your own border control because you now have international borders.” He adds Alberta would also need to fund its own national parks, passports, currency and central bank – all of which could take billions of dollars and decades to establish. But what this "economist" gets wrong is that Alberta can do that for far less than the additional $30 Billion Alberta would have each year.
