Yesterday l was coming from University of Bindura telling students to enroll for the CA journey just after their degrees in accounting, passed by TM Bindura and one lady a till operator saw the ICAZ (Institute of Chartered Accountants car) branded car.
She then started inquiring about the program and l quickly went to the car and got a flier for her while the ICAZ marketing officer Victor, was explaining to her about the route.
She then went on to say, will also tell my friends who l work with to look into this program, there are so many of us in here with degrees who are shop floor workers, till operators,
All these people never imagined one day, they will be using a whole degree to pack shelves,to vent on the street,to guard premises but the world requires someone who finds a way to keep pushing!
My prayer however is that you don’t lose sight of who you are and where your dreams are at. As much as you guard those premises you are still an engineer, don’t loose sight of that, your chance will come and when it does all the humble work you are doing will go a long way into making you a better leader!
Ohh yes to some it will never work but who are we if we give up!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am 28. I currently work as a security guard in Qatar. Every morning I put on my uniform and think about the version of me that graduated thinking the world was waiting. Nobody tells you that sometimes the world is not waiting. You just have to keep showing up anyway.

Dear CTA candidates!
Rule number 1:Don’t overrate yourself!
-Forget that you had 15/20 points at A Level
-Forget that you have first class degrees
-Forget that you are an auditor,or manager at work.
-Many people who struggle with audit at CTA,are the ones in practice 😫
-Forget that you are intelligent and navigate this journey as a new person.
-If you did your degree at most of these local institutions, just know you starting at zero😱
-Now,tell yourself l am entering new territory!
-Be prepared to finish before you even start the journey.
-You need the mental preparedness because less than 20% of the people will qualify that is passing the final exam(APC) without repeating at least once along the way.
-So you need to be wired mentally to know that Nomatter how hard l will finish!
-Don’t underestimate any subject treat them all with respect!
-Just remember MAF and FINAC are your parents, they don’t care who are you,you need to respect them
-Audit and TAX are your siblings,if you play with them nicely they make your life easy.
-So my first tip is don’t overate yourself!

-Keep having aspirations or you will expire!
-Meet this gentleman, his name is Chris Munodawafa his story is one that reminds me that as long as you dream everything is within reach!
-This guy failed his O levels at his first attempt and went back and wrote and passed.
-Then after O level he went on to work as a baker, then after some few years he went back to school at did his A level.
-After passing A level he started to teach A level students in his ghetto Mabvuku and created a name for himself teaching high school!Sir Chris!
-He did that for years as he was taking care of his siblings and did not have money to send himself to University (2009-2016)
-Then he decided to go back to school that is in 2017 and he acquired his own 2 degrees(One was bachelor of education and another one bachelor in Accounting )CIS and then did masters in accounting,
-Then someone told him that in accounting field to take good money you have to be a CA all this masters and stuff won’t get you at the helm.
-I thought dude would say it’s enough now,no!!!!!!!! he went on and started doing CTA and passed it then did ITC he passed it and now he is doing APC.(He actually failed it on his first attempt but as a champion he is,l have no doubt he will slay it soon).
-While doing CTA,he would do Vaya in the evening and after finishing CTA he went on to teach CTA. To me that is a genius move to combine his teaching experience with his new abilities. So he would teach during the day and go do Vaya in the evening. He is now a family man he has to feed his family while keeping his dream alive!
-His story is still being written and l am sure in few years we will be seeing his name in different spaces, currently he is Audit associate with BDO Zimbabwe,he is the current president of CA students in Zimbabwe and he is one of the best lecturer with CAA one of the two CA training institutions in Zimbabwe.
-Today dude is turning 40 Years and still going.Happy Sir Chris you inspire me!
-There are those who think they are already too old to pursue their dreams yet they are just 30,relax and take action!

-I used to think l am a legend of rising up from the ashes to be a champion, until l met Officer Zuro.
-His story is a story of hope and restarting your life,Brighton Zuro reset his professional life from being a police officer to becoming CA(Z)
-He did his high school deep in the rural areas of Buhera,Mutiusinazita to be specific.
-After passing his A level,he had no resources to go to University as his classmates,so he went straight and joined the police force.
-He worked for the police for a total of 7 years, but his dream of pursuing a career in accounting did not die,one day,it was vividly rejuvenated when he met his former class mate who told him that he could do a part time degree at UZ,
-He enrolled for a degree at UZ,where he would study during weekends and work during the week and it was not an easy journey trying to balance both work and school as he chased his dream.
-He finished his degree with a clean 2,1 degree and then started looking for a job which he thought would be a walk in the park but as all of us he went on to find out that an accounting degree is no-longer powerful as it used to be.
-He went on to study CTA and ITC while still a police officer,l member first time seeing him in his uniform after work and asking kuti ko officer muri kuita seyi pano 😂
-I was in an accounting environment full time but it was not easy balancing work and school as some of your superiors would not give you enough time to study,l can imagine how it was as a police officer to try to negotiate study time,🙌Still he rose up.
-After finishing CTA,that is when the journey for articles started for Mr Zuro,he went for interviews in different firms and he was successfully hired by BDO Zimbabwe, did his articles and l am proud to share with you that as it stands he is a CA(Z).
-The most important thing he said to me was, having a poor background ends at form 4,after that you are the poor background!
-This is a challenge to everyone, you are not trapped by your past, you determine your future now by deciding what to do with your present, this man served 13 good years as a police officer,to only become a CA,4 years later!
-This is the world we are now living, where you can even acquire the degree online, where we have so many institutions offering part time programs, why are you waiting and what are you waiting for to challenge yourself and follow your dreams!
