Twenty years ago today, An Inconvenient Truth made its debut in movie theaters across the U.S. I’ll be honest: I was skeptical that my slideshow about the climate crisis could become a successful movie. But thanks to our immensely talented director, Davis Guggenheim, Jeff Skoll, who made the ultimate decision to make the movie, and the incredible team behind the film — Laurie David, Lawrence Bender, Scott Z. Burns, Lesley Chilcott, Ricky Strauss, Diane Weyermann, and so many others, the film was a huge success, and opened the eyes of millions around the world to the threat posed by the climate crisis. While I wasn’t sure that there’d be widespread public interest in a science-based slideshow, I have never doubted humanity’s ability to solve this crisis. We know we must act, and Mother Nature is making that clearer and clearer every day. We’re already feeling the rapidly worsening impacts of a warming planet. Those impacts are evidence that our cause is even more urgent than it was 20 years ago. And as a result, the global movement for climate action has grown into the largest morally-based movement in the history of the world. We also know now that we can act. Indeed, in the past 20 years, we’ve made tremendous progress: The world came together in 2015 to forge the historic Paris Agreement, which despite the recent U.S. withdrawal, continues to drive global action and ambition. Incredibly, last year, renewables made up 86% of all the new electric power installed around the world. In the U.S., renewables were 92% of all new power capacity! Electric vehicles are now 25% of all new car sales worldwide and the sales of gasoline-powered vehicles have been declining since they peaked in 2017. Unfortunately, however, the crisis is still getting worse faster than we are deploying the solutions — solutions that are now way cheaper than the dirty and dangerous fossil fuels still spewing heat-trapping pollution into the sky as if it is an open sewer. So, while this is a natural occasion to reflect on the 20 years since the movie came out, I’m focused much more intensely on what we need to do now in order to shape what our world will look like in the next 20 years. I’m still presenting my updated slideshow all over the world, training grassroots climate leaders and working with partners in 194 countries and territories who are creating change in their communities, in their workplaces and schools, and in their nation’s policies. From what I’m seeing and hearing, I have no doubt that we will win this struggle. But it is still not clear that we will win it in time to avoid catastrophic damage and the dangerous negative tipping points that the climate scientists have long been warning us we must prevent. Will we muster the moral courage and political will to solve this crisis? Well, if you ever doubt our ability to do so, just remember that political will is itself a renewable resource. It’s up to all of us to renew it. Photos: Still from An Inconvenient Truth, 2006. Climate Reality Project training in Nashville, TN, 2026.

Our intelligence services reported receiving data, including from American and European partners, about Russia preparing a strike with the Oreshnik missile. We are verifying this information. We are seeing signs of preparation for a combined strike on Ukrainian territory, including Kyiv, involving various types of weaponry. The specified intermediate-range weapons could be used in such a strike. It is important to act responsibly on air-raid alerts, starting this evening. Russian madness truly knows no bounds, so please protect your lives – use shelters. Second, we are drawing the attention of our partners in the United States and in Europe to the fact that the use of such weapons and the prolongation of this war also sets a global precedent for other potential aggressors. If Russia is allowed to destroy lives on such a scale, then no agreement will restrain other similar hatred-based regimes from aggression and strikes. We count on a response from the world – and on a response that is not post factum, but preventive. Pressure must be put on Moscow so that it does not expand the war. Third, we are preparing our air defense as much as possible, and we will respond fully justly to every Russian strike. We have given permission for a parade, but Russia has no permission for madness. This war must be ended – we need peace, not some missiles satisfying the sick ambitions of one individual. I thank everyone helping to protect lives. Once again, please take care of yourselves and use shelters tonight.

Reports indicate russia is furious over Ukraine’s long-range strikes and is preparing a massive retaliation attack on Kyiv. Remember every Ukrainian strike is in self-defence. If Russia wants this to stop, it can very simply leave Ukraine at any moment.

Trump never has money for healthcare or VA staff or anything to actually make Americans’ lives better — but somehow found $1.8 billion to reward his allies with your tax dollars. That's corruption, plain and simple.

Rubio says that US-led peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine "were not fruitful." Not fruitful? Let’s look at the facts: your negotiators visited Russia seven times, and Ukraine zero times. You demanded concessions from Ukraine before negotiations even began, and throughout the entire process. You pressured Ukraine by cutting off weapons support entirely, constantly badmouthing us, and showing up at our doorstep waving Russian "peace plan" you demanded we sign immediately. And now, after Ukraine stands more firmly on its feet without your support, you realize you can't pressure us anymore. So your excuse is that you are tired and leaving? How about, for once, you actually support the victim, which is Ukraine instead of terrorist Russian regime? Send your team to Kyiv, support our fight, and apply real pressure on aggressor. Sanction Russia and seize their shadow fleet instead of handing out sanction waivers. Do that, and maybe negotiations will magically become "fruitful."

Mike Keil’s official job is to be the consumer voice at @CCWvoice Instead, he sounds like part of the sector’s PR plumbing. His answer is “better communication”. Consumers do not need spin management. They need protection from the system he is helping defend. #Sewage

Claims that the Baltic States allow Ukraine to use their airspace are utter nonsense - and Russia knows it. Moscow’s threats against the Baltic States are not a sign of strength, but of weakness. Russia is failing on the battlefield in Ukraine and is trying to intimidate us into reducing our support for Ukraine. The right response is to do the opposite: increase our support to Ukraine and boost Europe’s defences even further.

Two Sisters. Twelve and Seventeen. Buried Together in Kyiv Today. Liubava was 12. Vira was 17. This morning they were laid to rest side by side in Kyiv, killed along with 22 others when a Russian missile struck the residential building where they lived. Their father, Yevhen Yakovlev, was killed in combat in 2023 defending Ukraine. He never came home. Now their mother has lost her husband, her daughters, and her home. One family. Completely gone. When we talk about missile strikes on residential buildings, we are talking about this. Not infrastructure. Not statistics. Families. Children who had names, ages, futures. A mother who now has none of them. Russia does not accidentally hit apartment buildings. It targets them. Remember Liubava and Vira.

🚨 James O’Brien ABSOLUTELY RINSES a Brexit voter live on LBC Brexit voter Richard: “You’re very rude to me, aren’t you?” James: “I am very rude to you because of what you’ve done to my country.” One year on: GDP hit by 6-8%, trade down 15%, businesses struggling, no sunlit uplands in sight, just excuses. This level of brutal accountability is what we need back. Full rinse here 👇👇👇👇

Trump & Vance need to stop meddling in British politics and fix their own country. Here’s a message back from the UK: we don’t want your division, conspiracy politics or MAGA culture wars. And we don’t want unarmed civilians shot in our streets. Britain is better than that.

Leading into the midterms, Trump’s primary base, the billionaires, are going to be throwing copious amounts of money at the candidates who are Trump’s lackeys (Paxton, etc.). Our goal is to make sure they lose it ALL. 🔥LFG!
