Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks confirmed: Universes Beyond-ish crossovers coming to D&D. After MTG’s big-$$$ wins w/ TMNT, Transformers, SpongeBob & Marvel, D&D will follow suit. More licensed slop, less lore. Even moderns begging for new ideas will only get Rick and Morty spin-offs.

Every game I’ve ever done, the lore came first, and I tried as best I could to reflect it in the game. I designed Call of Cthulhu with the intent it would feel like you were in a horror story or movie. I worked on Age of Empires seeking for players to feel like ancient, medieval, or enlightenment rulers. Doom was meant to steep you in a dangerous violent blend of high tech and literal hell. The invaders aren’t “aliens”. They’re damned souls and devils. Lore puts you IN the game! What games did this best for you?

@oldyzach The primal dread I feel when landing at a terror site at night and the first thing I see stepping down the ramp of the Skyranger is one of these. My first encounter with Chryssalids taught me the value of slow advancement, over-watch, and proximity grenades.
