Mashaba calls for deportation of Zimbabwean Rutendo after criticism of Mkhwanazi
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has called for the deportation of controversial Zimbabwean-born commentator Rutendo Matinyarare following Matinyarare’s public criticism of General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Matinyarare accused Mkhwanazi of failing to address criminal elements within the police force during his 20-year tenure.
In response, Mashaba described Matinyarare as “toxic” and vowed to prioritize his removal if ActionSA comes into power, stating that Matinyarare would be among the first to be expelled and barred from re-entry.
Matinyarare’s legal status in South Africa remains unclear, with critics questioning his right to freely criticize the country’s institutions while residing here.
Mashaba’s call aligns with his party’s stricter approach to immigration and national security, emphasizing that disruptive individuals who undermine public confidence in institutions should not be allowed to remain.
While some question the legal feasibility of deportation without evidence of illegal activity, Mashaba insists on firm action against those deemed harmful to national interests.

Clever blacks will be the downfall of this country. Serious crimes are exposed and lerete kele worried about uniform????.
Mbekezeli@MbekezeliMB
There is something disturbing about a civilian police commissioner addressing the public in full military uniform surrounded by men with big guns and face masks. The militirisation of the police service that started under Nathi Mthethwa and Mbalula is something we will regret.

STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA ON STATEMENTS BY SAPS KWAZULU-NATAL PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER
President @CyrilRamaphosa has noted statements made earlier today in a media briefing by SAPS KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
President Ramaphosa said: “This is a matter of grave national security concern that is receiving the highest priority attention. It is vital that the integrity of the country’s security services is safeguarded and that the rule of law is affirmed.”
“All parties to this matter are called upon to exercise discipline and restraint. The trading of accusations and counter-accusations threatens to undermine public confidence and sow confusion.
Furthermore, these actions damage the unity and focus of the police.”
President Ramaphosa will outline the actions to be taken on this matter on his return from the BRICS Leaders’ Summit currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
